I would just like to say the the main reason for me being fairly unproductive at work today is
pirategam. The stories posted on that community suck me in and don't let go. And there are *so* many combinations from that movie: Jack/Will (the most popular), Elizabeth/Will (canon), Jack/Elizabeth, Jack/Annamaria, Jack/Will/Elizabeth (my personal favorite), and, if someone were so inclined to do a lesbian pairing, I could definitely see Elizabeth/Annamaria. Even pre-movie, you could do Bootstraps Bill/Jack (which has happened, mind you). Of course there are Mary Sues too (bleck), but the canonical stories are great. Especially
malisita's
"...And A Bottle of Rum" series.
Okay, back to real life.
I saw Catch-22 and a BUNCH of other ska/punk bands on Saturday with my brother and some of his friends. I like Catch-22 a lot, but I went more as a favor to Din (driving and such). But it was good, none-the-less. Birchhill (this little club nearby that will be closing soon) had two stages going, with high school aged bands playing the small stage (Strike 4 were the only good one, at least to me) and the touring acts (Catch-22, Mustardplug, Big D and the Kid's Table, and Kid Go Home, most notably) playing the main stage. Mostly I just wandered around, but during the beginning of Catch-22's set, I was about 3 people from the front of the stage (hooray for pits!). But, since it was a fairly hot day and there were SO many people all smushed together, I got out of there after about 6 or 7 songs and went outside to cool off. My shirt was SOAKED through with my sweat, other people's sweat, and the water the club staff and bands were spraying on us to keep us cool. But (as gross as that sounds) it was worth it. I had much fun. :)
Yesterday was very quiet (watched The Taming of the Shrew with the gorgeous Elizabeth Taylor and Ever After for the millionth time), but I went out around 6:30. Brian, Gabe, Melissa (IZE Melissa, not SHU Melissa) went to China Buffet for dinner and then met up with
thealmightybob at the movies (and also, we randomly ran into Gary, which was great, so he joined us as well) for The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (after a little uberviolent, but really silly arcade games involving the undead and handguns, which *wasn't* Resident Evil). The movie was ridiculous, but enjoyable for 1) Stuart Townsend as Dorian Gray; 2) Peta Wilson as Mina Harker (although I don't understand how she could walk around in the daytime); and, of course, 3) Sean Connery as Alan Quartermain. The ending was horrible, though. But it was so horrible, that the entire back row of the theatre (which means my friends and I) just *cracked* up laughing. I was seriously tearing I was laughing so hard at the stupidity of the end. I should have just made everyone go see Pirates of the Caribbean, because I KNOW I want to see it at least once more in the theatres (it was #1 at the box office this weekend, too, btw, and deservingly so...that and Finding Nemo are the best movies this summer...and both are from Disney. Go figure). But, I was entertained, even though it was mostly because it was just so ridiculous and because I was with really fun people.
Well, that's about it. Love to all, and I miss those whom I've not seen/heard much from. Hope all is well, and I hope to hear from you soon.
