I was up until 4am installing The Sims 2 + all EPs and SPs on my new notebook (a process which did not go smoothly, due to Windows interpreting the installation as idle time, downloading a security update in the background, and REBOOTING in the middle of installing Pets), only to discover that the game looks like cr*p. (Pardon my dutch.) It runs flawlessly, but the lighting is overly bright and washes away all detail...not to mention being painful to look at for extended periods. When I'm looking at an overhead view of a snowy neighborhood, I might as well be gazing into a fluorescent bulb. Adjusting the screen's brightness has no impact; it's just like draping gauze over the bulb. Yes, the immediate threat of blindness is gone, but the light is still there obscuring color and texture. I don't really know anything about system specs for gaming, so I don't know if the graphics card or the display itself is at fault, but I do know that educating myself on this after buying the machine is not the best order of things. (And I was soooo careful about processor speed and memory. *pout*)
