Dragon Voice #4
Beatmen won the competition to perform at Odaiba! During the break for the big gig, the guys enjoy their summer time by reminiscing about the past! The big gig was a memorable performance with the local street performers. Their next job is the motor show promo for the company where Rin’s father works for. Mr. AMAMI hates celebrities, which is why Rin is a bit glad his father is in Detroit. What he doesn’t know is his father is flying home to Japan for company business and planning to see him.
Rin stumbles to his father!
Since the book was released in Indonesia back in 2004, I'm having a fun time digging the series from the shelf and sat down to re-read it. I giggled at the premise that Shino is a TV shopping maniac. And it's refreshing to look at the boys at the start of their career.
Thanks to NISHIYAMA-sensei's realistic drawing, you can actually feel the sweat of these boyband members for the big show at Odaiba. Man, with a performance like that I would suffer from a nervous breakdown and be rushed to the hospital, before I managed to appear on the actual stage.
Instead, they still manage to re-write lyrics, create a new choreography, and train some 500 young street performers overnight. I love reading the behind-the-scenes extra cut for the Odaiba show. It's a huge gig and yet they still manage to change the entire show a day before and execute it like it was well-prepared. Now, that's what I would call great team work.
Oh, I wish I was still young and healthy; I'd pursue this career path for sure.
Platinum Garden #4
Toya’s "explosive attack" does not affect Kazura, which enables her to carry him to Mizuki. When she wakes up, Toya has learned about her past being a half-Japanese, a similar fate she shared with her grandfather. While checking on Mizuki in the bathroom, Kazura saw something that triggers a part of her childhood memory back, things that she locked away all this time that made her forget about Mizuki. And her tears dropped...
That’s being said; let’s get to the core of this story. Who can resist this hyperactive-girl and silent-meanie-boy love story? As if that’s not enough, it is set around a mystery that equals to the curse in Fruits Basket.
Even though it was translated by one of Indonesia’s best manga translators, the amount of incomprehensible words shot through me, since I have to read it a couple of times before I can understand where the story is going. Or was it because of the complexity of the story itself? Either way, we are now on vol. 13 and it just gets better.
BTW, I scanned the wrong volume for Platinum Garden earlier, so here are some for your enjoyment. Click the images for larger scan. It contains no spoiler, only Mizuki being possessive.
