the most amazing thing about the gig was the sound system. louie brought in his unique
bose PA system. one tube and one bass woofer. no monitors. and the sound was awesome! i had heard about it, and now i'm a believer.
before we started, jim played
my banjo -- now sans resonator -- and said it was not a bad banjo at all -- this from someone who owns a
vega. the evening started and ended with few people in the pub, and the quiet made for some very nice playing. in the middle of the evening, a very loud and drunk birthday party ended up in front of us. and we took a lot of requests, including 'sweet home alabama' and 'summertime' and anything by bob dylan (we played 'easy chair'). kelly joined us for the first set.
sue arrived with w, and later her german workmates, andreas, markus und tina, showed up. wes ordered onion rings and left after a short while. after the gig sue had a nice time chatting with my bandmates while i gathered my cables and cords.
