Snippet-fic! Originally intended to be part of a larger story. Unfortunately, it's been so long I can't remember what that story was... But then, when do I post snippets?

Happy SPN Night!

Title: Homecoming
Fandom: Supernatural
Category: Wincest
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 406!
Summary: "They'll come home. They always come home."

Sam is sixteen, staying behind in a motel room, writing a history paper on the Spanish revolution while Dean and Dad are hunting a phantom ferryman on the river. It's late; past midnight. Sam's attention is distracted by the loud ticking of the clock on the wall above the television. It seems to get louder as the night wears on.

They'll come home. They always come home. Dean tells Sam not to worry but it's like saying, don't think of purple elephants; the power of suggestion is stronger than assurances. Sam has a vivid imagination and too often he sees himself, like he is now, only it's morning of the day after and they've not come home, and he's alone in a motel room, listening to the clock pounding the seconds away until he goes insane.

Inevitably they come home and Dean says, "You weren't waiting up for us, were you?" and Sam shakes his head and says something about the amount of homework he has.

Dad says, "Go to bed, Sam," and not "Good night," but he touches Sam on the shoulder before he leaves them for his own room.

Sam crawls under the covers and Dean showers. When he's done he climbs into bed next to Sam, still warm and damp and naked. He reaches for the waistband of Sam's boxers and hikes them down over Sam's hips. Dean takes Sam's cock in his fist, and jerks him off slow, resting his forehead against Sam's shoulder and grinding his own erection against Sam's thigh.

Sam closes his eyes and thinks about the calloused pads of Dean's fingers against Sam's skin, the way it hurts a little when Dean gets rough, pulls too hard and fast, the way Dean puts his hands over Sam's mouth to stop him from crying out. Sam doesn't think about how he'll wake up in the morning and swear it's the last time, or how he knows a word for what they do and it's not something he says out loud, not to Dean, not to anyone.

Afterwards Sam will lie catching his breath, Dean's arm around his hip, and he'll justify it to himself. He'll say, it's not normal but neither are they. They're not like other families. They're different, special. He won't talk about it to Dean and Dean will shut him down if he tries.

He'll be left with this: they're brothers, and this is what they do.

ETA: I signed up for spn_j2_bigbang. Call me crazy, but I had an idea and I *really* liked it. Incidentally, this does not count as a regret post, okay?
