It's het! OMG! Apologies to my McShep friends (only I'm not really sorry...diversity is *good* for you) but this is a special case. Ho, ho, ho! (Also, it was *really* hard not to make this about Rodney *g*)

That was gorgeous, and heartbreaking, and so very plausible

I'm glad you thought so.

I can certainly see Elizabeth backing down from a romantic liaison in this fashion. She's such a *solitary* character. And I like that about her.

Thanks.

I don't want to like this pairing, but this scenario seems oh-so-plausible when you present it this well. There's real discomfort and pain in this, and also a lack of connection between Sheppard and Weir in certain key ways which makes a really interesting combination with her strong feelings about him.

Making Elizabeth both likable *and* in character is a hard sell for me, but you managed it very well in this. Thanks.

I had a little trouble getting a feel for it myself. The 2nd person helped, funnily enough.

Thanks for reading. I really appreciate people who will give a pairing a try if there's a chance they might get a good story out of it. I will usually try anything if I think it might be written well.

Wow, this is a fantastic look at Elizabeth. I like the exploration of her diplomatic roots, and especially the way she finds herself separated from them when she's vengeful about John.

The diplomat thing came from a heavy West Wing influence, I think. *g* I"m glad you appreciated it.

Thanks for commenting. :)

Thanks for enduring the pain - I'm glad you appreciated it anyway. I like my relationships *complicated* so it's nice to see other people out there who are interested in this sort of interaction too.

Cheers!

Okay, seriously, that? was absolutely, ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. I could hear them both in all the dialogue, it was so... THEM. WHEE!

The effect I was going for was old school CJ/toby angst - so it's kind of gratifying that the cj/toby fans liked it. *g*

Also - I kept thinking, hmmmm... weir/ cj... And John/ toby - no wait, that's just wrong... ;)

Thanks for reading, though. Really glad you liked it.

This is beautiful. You've captured everything I love about Elizabeth; her strength, her weakness, and her stubborn commitment to nonviolence. And even though I actually *do* 'ship S/W, I especially adore that the reason she turns him down is because she can see her feelings for him leading her down a path where she would be willing to give up that vital part of who she is, and would rather sacrifice what they might have together than that.

I see Elizabeth as being very ethical - and demanding *so* much of herself - it's hard to imagine her *not* finding a tryst with John something of an ethical dilemma. But I think part of shipping is liking the complications of a relationship - well, it is for me anyway... *g* I enjoy the idea of this pairing - even if I don't fannishly get behind it. It's an interesting pairing to write, that's for sure.

And i'm really grateful for your thoughts on the fic - thanks.
