Started back to work last night to find that they have released the vacation schedule for next year along with the easy reference calendars that people use to mark their days off/vacation/etc. The big thing is that I now know when shutdown will be next year which means I need to figure out if I am going to do anything for it and if I am, what specifically. I've been toying with the idea of going on a cruise, so that is in the back of my mind. Blobfest should be about that time, although that isn't something I would kill a week for, but I'm sure I could find other things to do if push came to shove. I still have some time to think about it and a large break coming up in less than 2 weeks.
In other news, I began reading the Coldfire trilogy over my days off, plus the prequel novella that was released a few years ago. I've read the series several times over the last 20 years and I was never quite sure on one of the character's motivations. The guy does something absolutely horrific and I never quite understood why. Well, reading through this time and it is clearly spelled out in the prologue. Literally, the first few pages of the book. I'm not quite sure how I feel about this as I really have to question whether or not I could have really missed that. I haven't made it very far into the book, but this trilogy is my current project to kill time and the monotony around here.
I'm still chowing down on that Turkey Lasagna I made the other day, which is working out nicely. Something like that is expensive, but it feeds you for days, so the fact that it is a costly meal doesn't really matter. This also means that I have now made seafood lasagna and turkey lasagna, but not regular lasagna. Which I will probably have to attempt at some point. Back when I was still dating Steph, lasagna was one of those things that she enjoyed making and I definitely enjoyed eating, so this experience has brought back a couple of those memories. She would make garlic bread with it too, so if I do decide to make regular lasagna, I think I'll try my hand at garlic bread as well.
Of course, before I do that I'll need to get my tooth looked at. A month ago the dentist gave me a filling for a tooth that he was concerned was going to grow a cavity. It was like a 50/50 thing so he decided to just go ahead and do it. The problem is that I don't think it took, because I've had problems with that tooth since. I plan on calling this week to see when he can give it a look see. Tooth pain sucks, so while this currently only hurts when I chew with it, and only sometimes, I don't want this to get out of hand.
