Summer update

Well, like usual, been a while since I updated this thing. Oh well. Has probably been a lot to talk about, but I'm lazy, so you were all spared. Here's the rundown of the past couple months and the forseeable future.

Got back to the farm after school ended, had a week or so "honeymoon" with my dad, after which his usual self came back out - the passive-aggressive control-issues workaholic who can't understand how I don't want to spend 8-10 hours a day in the hay fields. So, I spent about two months putting in some work around the family farm, which is fair, but unpleasant. On the upside, dad did agree to pay me for the time I've put in, which is good, since that means I'll have enough money to replace some parts in my computer because...

... it's trying to give up the ghost after only being on this dear planet three years. Either the CPU cooling is going out (doesn't look like it), the video card heatsink is losing all effectiveness (even though it's got a two-fan PCI slot card blowing on it) or, my preffered theory, the heat sensor on my Abit motherboard is defective. When you run three-year-old games on low visual settings and get overheat warnings, there's a problem. Especially when the case is wide open, the house is cooler than usual room temperature, and there's a 2-liter of ice in the airflow of your seven fans. It's driving me nuts. Thinking about computers...

... I'm probably not gonna be online as much over the next two weeks or so, 'cause it's been confirmed that I've lost my Tennessee state scholarship by 0.1 GPA points. Dad blames a computer addiction. I blame Calculus. Oh well, I'll be back in Cookeville and living with my friend Jeff soon after I help drive my sister back to Houston, TX. From then it's preparation time for uni, which starts on my birthday ironically enough, just under a month from now. I'll be 21...

.. which means I'll be legal to do damn near anything on my own, which is kinda cool, but I'm kinda not really excited about it. Man, I probably need more of a life. Oh well. In my lack of life...

... I've met a lot of new people online, and renewed older friendships. I'd forgotten how cool Budger is, and have gotten to know Shad and Skyshadow, and Sphelx better, all in part thanks to the cool Furry Freelancer server that Sphelx and I masterminded. It was pretty awesome while we were all able to play on it, but then farm life took over time I'd have otherwise freelanced in, and that brings this little story full circle.

Other than all that, I've been doing some work for Blitzkrieg II and Iron Grip, both are nearing big releases. Those have been doing a good job keeping my mind off relationship issues, and any break from stewing over that is a welcome one. Maybe that's why I seem "addicted" to the computer. I dunno. Whatever.
