[Dean's sitting on the hood of the Impala, grease and sweat on his grey t-shirt and on his face, and a few other cars in surprisingly good condition can be seen parked up a short distance behind him. He's got a bandana wrapped and tied around his left bicep, and a small trickle of blood can be seen dried on his sweaty, dirty skin but it doesn't ( Read more... )

[Gabe's someone else in the yard when the message airs. Honestly he's been having a nap in one of the cars, making use of the sunshine but at the beep signifying Dean's post, he stirs. And watches. And by the end he can't hold back, scurrying out of the wreck and towards where the video showed Dean, just a moment before.]

Dean... wait. Hold up. Are you honestly saying... you're going to do... real work? Out-in-the-open not-a-cover work? Really? Both of you? [He looks about ready to laugh, as if he can't believe it.]

You mean, you're out of things to kill?

Yeah, yeah, shut it. I've done plenty of real work. I worked construction for a year, after the apocalypse, and me and Sam used to do normal jobs before it just got too easy to hustle people instead.

[He shakes his head a bit, then gets a few tools from a toolbox and gives him a look.] Out of money, not monsters. We gotta pay our way, or we're not gonna be eating.

Construction? [The ex-angel pauses, trying to keep from smirking as he pictures the older Winchester brother in well, it's probably not actually official construction wear, but something out of a bad porno.]

Oh. Yeah. [Money. That was one of those important things for humans, right?]

Should I be... helping out with the whole money thing?

Yeah. It sucked but it paid bills and it got me out the house. Everything went back to normal once Sammy came back.

[He snorts at that question.] Do you even know how to work?

Dean, I am never going to get over your version of normal.

[That question though? That's below the belt] I know how to work a job about as well as you do. Come on, how often do you think I've had to do it before?

Well, you know, I meant my kind of normal, not apple pie life with a girl and a dog. Besides, I like my version of normal, even if it's bloody and dangerous.

[He raises a brow at that and shakes his head.] Considering what you can do with a snap of your fingers, I think you haven't worked a real job in your life.

I know you do. Which just proves you're crazy. But I guess you'd find that too boring, huh?

[And Gabriel grins],/small> Spot on! I have never, ever had a real job in the history of humanity! So... [Now he slumps. Not against the Impala though.] So I have no freakin' idea.

Never claimed to be sane in the first place.

[He snorts a bit.] You're gonna have to think of something. You can't just live with me and Sammy forever, you know he's still pissed at you for Mystery Spot. You could always grovel to the powers that be, see if they'll give you back your mojo.

Yeah, yeah I know. Not yet paid for my crimes. [He seems to take the news he's not forgiven well enough, after all he knows that anyway; Sammy probably wasn't going to forgive him no matter what.

But at the suggestion he grovels, his face falls and suddenly the shorter man's stance is defensive, arms over his chest.]

I'm not going to crawl on my knees to anyone. I'll work, if I have to, but I'm not begging anyone. No.

[Dean shrugs a bit, and gives him a pat on the shoulder.] I guess you're gonna have to find something you'd be good at. Try retail, all you gotta do is stand there, cop a 'tude with people, and ring up their items.

[He finishes the last of his beer, tosses the bottle aside and starts working on the car he'd been fixing up again.]
