[Dean's sitting on the hood of the Impala, grease and sweat on his grey t-shirt and on his face, and a few other cars in surprisingly good condition can be seen parked up a short distance behind him. He's got a bandana wrapped and tied around his left bicep, and a small trickle of blood can be seen dried on his sweaty, dirty skin but it doesn't ( Read more... )

Using your real name makes you feel dirty?

[Remarkably telling, Dean.]

[Aw crap, that bit was recorded. Lame.]

No, using it in public makes me feel dirty. It's nobody's business what my name is but this place forces us to use the damn things.

[At least you weren't forced to reveal your mutation immediately upon arrival, Dean.]

I like Winchester better than Young.

Yeah? Me too. Just don't use it much. [He frowns a bit and it's heard in his tone.] It's a kind of gun, you know. A rifle. And a kind of ammo.

[ Selina finds the awkwardness of Dean's post rather adorable. In that "you are so not good at doing this, are you?" kind of way. She flicks the feed on and leans forward, chin in her hand with a lazy smile. ]

Is business booming yet?

Got a few more jobs than I expected to have. I'm gonna be fixing cars 'til I'm dead at this rate.

I guess that means you wouldn't have time for a little favor for me? [ She gives him that one sly smile. ]

Depends on what it is, sister, I'm not the favour giving type, most of the time.

I certainly know who to call if any of my cars ever break down. Thank you, Dean.

Sure thing, Doc. Hey, I'll give you a discount, since if Sammy and me get hurt more than we can handle we'll be coming round being the bugs in your soup all the time, asking to be fixed up.

I hardly need a discount. Though, I may need to open easily accessible files if you plan on cutting off any more casts.

Well I needed it off. I can't work one armed. Guess I should have asked you to do it, right?

[Dean is sitting on the ground, next to a tyre he's tightening into place as he responds, and he smirks at him like he's just won the damn lottery, because that disbelief is perfect.]

Sure am. Why, there a problem with that?

I guess you could call me that. I never served for my country, though, not officially.

[Serving in Hell counts, right? And fighting the apocalypse definitely counts.]

[Gabe's someone else in the yard when the message airs. Honestly he's been having a nap in one of the cars, making use of the sunshine but at the beep signifying Dean's post, he stirs. And watches. And by the end he can't hold back, scurrying out of the wreck and towards where the video showed Dean, just a moment before.]

Dean... wait. Hold up. Are you honestly saying... you're going to do... real work? Out-in-the-open not-a-cover work? Really? Both of you? [He looks about ready to laugh, as if he can't believe it.]

You mean, you're out of things to kill?

Yeah, yeah, shut it. I've done plenty of real work. I worked construction for a year, after the apocalypse, and me and Sam used to do normal jobs before it just got too easy to hustle people instead.

[He shakes his head a bit, then gets a few tools from a toolbox and gives him a look.] Out of money, not monsters. We gotta pay our way, or we're not gonna be eating.

Construction? [The ex-angel pauses, trying to keep from smirking as he pictures the older Winchester brother in well, it's probably not actually official construction wear, but something out of a bad porno.]

Oh. Yeah. [Money. That was one of those important things for humans, right?]

Should I be... helping out with the whole money thing?

Yeah. It sucked but it paid bills and it got me out the house. Everything went back to normal once Sammy came back.

[He snorts at that question.] Do you even know how to work?
