Lots of reading

November - In the interests of knowing what Solveig is reading, I read Dork Diaries. I thought it was a bit too old for her as the main character, Nikki Maxwell, is about 14 and going ga-ga over boys, but Solveig said she enjoyed it and the next 2 in the series, which I also read.

In the same vein, Judy Moody Goes to College, in which Judy needs to be tutored and through her college-student tutor comes to experience life on campus. This was much more appropriate for Solveig and she also really enjoyed it.

Celebrity in Death (#34 in the series), follows on from Origin in Death, in which Dr Icove and his son were discovered to be cloning people, and another one which I can't rememer, in which Nadine writes a book based on that case. Now, the movie (or vid) based on the book is being filmed. Various people associated with the movie die and Eve Dallas works on the case while trying to avoid her bridesmaid duties to her friend Louise.

Odd and the Frost Giants was a fun little book by Neil Gaiman, about a young Viking boy who helps the gods when they are banished from Asgard by the Frost Giants. Ben and Solveig liked this one.

A rare book that I chose and Solveig liked was Forget Me Not: the story of one family's voyage on the Titanic by Sue Lawson (an Australian author). It was a vivid introduction to the history of the sailing and sinking of the Titanic, focusing on a young family moving from England to America.

The Double Comfort Safari Club is the 11th book in Alexander McCall Smith's No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series. Mma Ramotswe handles several cases - tracking down the recipient of an overseas' woman's bequest, investigating whether a midwife's husband is cheating on her and rectifying the latest deception perpetrated by Violet Sephotho. Mma Makutsi has to negotiate with her fiance's horrible aunt.
