I do so hope I can keep writing these daily. We'll see, as that's the point of this exercise!
Day 5: If you have ever had a character try to push their way into a fic, whether your "muse" or not, what did you do about it?
Yes. They do that, don't they?
What I do is figure out how they fit, of course. If they are barging into a part of the story, obviously there is more to be gained from them. What can they add later on? What parts can they play to help or hinder the heros? Most of our OCs are like that, in that we bring them in as a joke or just as a "I need some person here to do a thing so poof here's a person" and then suddenly they are the last lifeline holding the story together as they dangle from a cliff having masterminded a rescue mission while your characters were fucking things up. I mean seriously, Gibbs and Edge? Jac and Sparo? TOTALLY JOKES but look at them now. Jac becomes the freaking naval captain, and Sparo a turk. Don't even get me started on Conally.
So in the end, I try to add them more if they feel the need to elbow in to the story. It's fun!
