Exhibition Update

My exhibition, "Arrival", is less than a week away and I've finally managed to get the new pieces I'm going to show copied. That simple task seemed to take the most effort for some reason.  I just couldn't find a copy place that could a: handle the task without damaging the originals, and b: do it for less than $100.

That is until this morning.  Jyan and I headed over to Parramatta Road on the advice of our housemate Brian.  He said there was a huge copy place there, but we first stumbled across a small copy place on the same road.  The bloke who served us was incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.  What's more we got the copying done for less than $10!  I've finally found my copy place which will receive all of my business from now on. I can add that to my framing shop (not overly happy with them but they'll do for the moment) and my mounting board store.

All I need to do now is frame the pieces, scan the copies, approve the catalogue, and decide on the menu for Opening Night.  Not much really, but still a lot of work. I'm looking forward to it.  I still can't believe that I've managed to score an exhibition during Mardi Gras :)

I'm also surprised by the amount of support I'm receiving from the various gay media sources here.  SSO have done an interview with me, and a couple of websites are advertising the exhibition.  It's looking like it's going to be a big one... at least I hope it is.  All I ask is that I sell enough pieces to cover the costs of the exhibit (which are substantial this time around).

I'm also sure that without Jyan, this wouldn't be happening.  He has been nothing but a constant rock for me to lean on, a font of knowledge and resources, and of course a loving caring husband.  He has put up with my moods and tantrums brought on by frustrations and not a small amount of guilt. I love him more and more every day, and I'm forever grateful for his presence in my otherwise very ordinary life.
