Last weekend I didn't really do much, and I loved it. Suddenly, I'm again realizing that I didn't do enough of the "doing nothing" this summer to last me through the school semester. Always happens this way, yet it's still always annoying.
Emily and I went to the Steve and Barry's store in Racine on Tuesday, and found a few good deals on clothes - well, really, Em found lots of clothes, I just enjoyed the mini-road-trip. Did get one new shirt, though, so that was nice. Went to the local Steve and Barry's last night, just to see if the selection was different, and it really was! Figures that Racine's would be so much better . . . it's far to far away to go to often. Ran into an old friend in the store last night, though, someone who I hadn't talked to in years. I knew he graduated and had a degree as a secondary history teacher, but not much else. Turns out he's been subbing since he graduated in December and is actually dating another friend of mine from high-school. Was nice to hear how both Jay and Erin were doing, though, and it made up for the fact that I found NOTHING to buy at the store.
I was planning to get my books for next semester this morning, since Em and I are leaving for Arizona on Friday, and I didn't want to leave everything until we got back, as we'll have less than a week of summer left. We went down to campus this morning, but even though Emily had asked the guy at the store if they'd be open on Saturday and he said yes, the store was closed. So, unproductive morning. Now I'm trying to burn a CD to take with me to AZ, and I can't get that to work properly, either, so the afternoon isn't turning out much better.
Taped I Am Sam last weekend, as I didn't have a copy yet. I really do like that movie - Dakota's so sweet in it! Still have to watch last Sunday's 4400 which I should do tonight. Not much else to watch on TV yet. Still taping reruns of Veronica Mars and Firefly in order to let friends watch and see what they're missing. And I think I'll check out that new show starting Monday on ABC Family. It's called Beautiful People, and appears to be about a single mom with two teenage daughters, but I'm just going to check it out for lack of anything else on to watch until mid-September, especially since The Inside has been effectively canceled.
What else to look forward to this week? Wisconsin State Fair on Monday, which should be fun. I've limited myself to only going one day this year, so I'll have to make the most of it! I'm also hoping to get my school books Monday morning or maybe Tuesday. Leaving for Arizona on Friday, which means that I'll have to devote some time to packing this week. It's actually my first trip on an airplane, as strange as that is. Oh, and I should be getting the second issue of the Serenity comics in all three covers early this week in the mail! Something else to enjoy.
