The Cape (s01ep03): Kozmo *** Guys, I don't know what's happening, but I actually liked this week's episode of The Cape, too. After not liking the premiere much at all, I'm a little baffled by the fact I'm now wondering if it's better than The Event. (Though that probably doesn't take much.)
This week, Max Malini's old friend Gregor Molotov is in town and suspiciously looking for the cape. And Vince's wife uncovers the corruption in Palm City while at work down in the public defender's office. Plus, there's some interesting backstory on the cape, Max Malini, and even Orwell.

I like that there's actually a method to the madness on the show each week. What I mean is there's like this little story that goes along with the MOTW. This week Vince is warned by both Max and Orwell to not let the power of the cape control him after he dangles a bad guy off the side of a bridge. Enter Gregor who used to own the cape and used it for crime and murder. I like that each week we're not just seeing Vince battle a new bad guy, but is actually learning to be a better man along the way. Hopefully soon battling crime in Palm City will become more important to him than just getting rid of Chess to get back to his family.
Gregor: Max ever tell you about that old cape he used to have? Some say it was first worn by Egyptian priests who performed living sacrifices. Others say it was used by alchemists... as a kind of antenna to the unconscious, finding everything buried deep down in a man's soul and bringing it to the surface. Some say it was the cape worn by Merlin... maybe even Jack the Ripper.
I liked that we also got to find out more about the cape itself. It's almost like another character in the series. The cape has a long mysterious history and has been owned by a bunch of people throughout time, including Max himself, by people who call themselves Kozmo the Unkillable. Seems to me like Max is trying to find someone good to wear the cape and use it for good. Vince of course resists this notion as he just wants to get this over with and back to his family.
Max: Why don't you get in on the act, join our little family? You have any talents?
Orwell: I can hotwire a car. Burn through any firewall in under a minute.
Max: Do you ever give a straight answer?
Orwell: I just did.
Max: And I thought I was mysterious.
We finally get some more insight on Orwell too as it's hinted that she is probably Chess' daughter. Interesting to note that Chess has been looking all over Europe for her. Sounds like Orwell put up a false trail, huh? Meanwhile, Chess is also trying to hunt down this mysterious Orwell. Little does he know...it's his daughter and she's right under his nose. Things are about to get interesting. Especially since Orwell is strangely now staying at the carnival with Vince's band of misfits. Oh, boy.
