The Cape (s01ep01): Pilot ** Superheroes and Summer Glau? ++. But this pilot just didn't do it for me. Police sergeant Vince Faraday is framed and seemingly dies in an explosion. Now as The Cape, Vince must trust Orwell to help in the fight against corruption in Palm City.
The Cape (s01ep02): Tarot *** I'm glad I stuck with it though, because I loved the second ep a lot more. As Chess and Cain set their sights on Patrick Portman, the Cape intervenes, barely surviving the encounter. Orwell, Max Malini, and the gang band together to help the Cape recover and save Patrick.

tumblr)Max: I've broken 92 bones in pursuit of the perfect illusion. Trained a generation of escapists, acrobats, magicians. I specialize in impossible. But this... this won't cut it. You need something special. But I do nothing halfway. This will cost you. you'll learn just how much the human body can withstand. And the mind. You give me your soul, Vince Faraday, and I'll make you the greatest circus act that ever lived.
I watched the first hour of the series at work and just couldn't get past the corniness, the dialogue, etc. It was like watching the old Batman series trying to be modern. A lot of people like it because it's lighthearted and fun, I couldn't deal because it just wasn't serious enough. The training montage of the cape, his new band of circus folk...it was all just too much. Only reason I continued was because A. superheroes and B. Summer Glau.

I'm glad I continued watching the show because it's strangely starting to grow on me. I guess I was expecting a different kind of show, and needed to just accept what the show is and isn't. It also helps that this episode upped the stakes a bit with Vince getting in danger and drugged.
Orwell: Fleming's already got the police department. If he gains control of the prisons, he'll have his police state. We have to stop him. Are you listening?
Vince: Off and on. I'm dying.
The dialogue was also a lot better this time around, too. I think I had gotten annoyed to all the lines from the pilot that were used in all the promos. Plus, Orwell also had more to do this episode.Portman: What are you, some--some do-good vigilante? Some superhero?
Vince: I'm The Cape.
Portman:The Cape? You're not wearing a cape.
Vince: I'm aware of that.
Portman:No offense.
Vince: None taken.
Then, I also liked Max taking the cape away from Vince and forcing him to remember why he's fighting and not to take risks. Overall it made for a most enjoyable hour. I'll be tuning in next week now. And seeing as the writers have said there'll be a variety of different episodes to come, this should be an enjoyable ride.
