The Story So Far....
In July 2004, I get a Phone Call from a Friend saying "If you're still looking for a Job, call this Number"
Turned out to be the Number for his then Girl-Friend, who's Work was looking for Help with a Project
She even said to me that it's Crap Work, and it's only for a couple of weeks
Being somewhat 'Deperate' for Work, I gladly accepted
Those couple of weeks soon became months, but, as I was still a Casual, I had no 'Job Security' as such, and was forever kept wondering if I would still have a Job the next week
In March 2005, the Team Leader at the time handed in her Resignation (and she left in April), and the one that got me the Job Applied for that Position (she was effectively a Team Leader already because of the Work she was doing and the Salary she was getting), and then Withdrew it after a couple of days....and then Quit when she was DRASTICALLY Demoted back down to her Former Position
Only other Applications for that Position were another Staff Member, who started three weeks after I did, and had no Prior Experience with either Records Management (Filing) or Management, and was told in the Interview that she wasn't suitable (she actually told us this!!), and some guy from Australia Post
The guy from Australia Post was Chosen, but he changed his mind with less then a week before he was due to start
And so, simply because there was nobody else to give the Job to, they gave it to the one that was found to be un-suitable....and she claimed at the time that she would only have the Job for three months, or until they found someone more suitable
The Manager at the time then Quit in May, but before she left, she offered me Permanency....some ten months after I started, which I accepted simply because I needed the Job Security
A New Manager started in June 2005, and that's when the Problems started
Not content with leaving things as they were going....which admittedly had their Problems, they were still going relatively smoothly....she insisted in changing things....which RARELY works, quite frankly
She also allowed the new Power Hungry Little Troll of a 'Team Leader' (remember her....the one that shouldn't have gotten the Job?) Free Reign in dealing with the Staff
I then Applied for a Transfer, simply because I didn't want to work with that little Troll as a 'Team Leader', and my Request was Refused on the 'Grounds' that there were no Vacancies
Gee....
And here I was thinking that I had actually Applied for a TRANSFER, and NOT a Vacancy....meaning that I go to another Site, and someone from that Site takes my place
Simple
The Manager even kept on saying (even for some time after that) that that particular Site was the best one to work at
Hmmmm....
That being the Case, you'd think that there'd be people SCREAMING for such a Transfer, huh?
Eventually (after the third time that I asked (read 'Demanded') for a Transfer), I was told why I hadn't gotten one
One of the Companies that they dealt with had been taken over, and the Staff from there had to be spread around the other Sites, and we ended up getting three of them
However, because of the way things ended up, I had to go in for a 'Little Chat' with my Manager's Boss
The Result was that I was given two weeks off (with Pay) to 'Think About My Options', and to Decide whether or not I wanted to stay there
Off course I didn't, but I needed the Money, so I stayed
Since then, though, the Manager and 'Team Leader' saw it as their 'Mission' to get rid of me (which, as I was now a Permanent, they needed a Reason to do so, and so, they set about trying to find one)
Over the course of the next two years, they tried various ways to get rid of me....Threatening me with Warnings....actually giving me Warnings for daring to have a Conversation with my Colleagues, and the Staff that we were doing the Work for, and once, the day we all returned from the Christmas Break, the 'Team Leader' actually Threatened to Sack me!!
I even tried to take the opportunity when the National Boss was down one time, and make a Complaint to her about it
She pretty much pre-empted me with the 'Not my Site, Not my Problem' Attitude, and just said to me, "Those two have my complete backing"
So....I knew I was on my own as far as that went
Eventually, the Australian Side of the Out-Source Company got taken over by the New-Zealand Side....in June 2007, which was also when we were told that they lost the Contract (claiming the Fault to be a "Failure to pass on new Technologies to the Client", whereas we all knew it was due to TOTAL Lack of Management....the 'Team Leader, for example, had NO Record's Management Experience before she started with us, had NO Management Training before she was 'Appointed' as 'Team Leader', and had NO People Skills, Period.)
We were then left hanging until September 2007 because the Contract had been Extended until then for the Client to Decide what would be happening to us (even though they knew what was going to happen, but still kept us hanging anyway)
In September, we FINALLY found out that, instead of the Client actually taking things back in-house, they opted to use another Out-Source Company....
Gee....
You'd think that they would have learned their Lesson the first time around, huh?
We had that Contract for about four years before we lost it....and who do they end up giving it to??
An Out-Source Company that had NO Experience in Records Management, and who didn't even have an Australian Branch until just prior to that
Go Figure
Amyway....
Contract gets Extended again until Mid October while the New Company Decide what to do with the Staff
Manager and 'Team Leader' see it as their PERFECT Opportunity to FINALLY get rid of me
They succeed in giving the New Company whatever Lies they need to, and they have me 'Made Redundant'
Hmmmm....
You would Think, would you not, that if I was REALLY as bad as they always tried to make me out to be, that I would have either been Sacked, or otherwise been given that Transfer (which I asked for three more times since then, and still got Refused) LONG before then, huh?
So....I was sacked in October last year (Manager's Boss even came over to 'Personally Escort me out of the Building, and to make sure I handed in my pass'....surprised she didn't go as far as to Search me as I was leaving to make sure I hadn't Stolen anything)
About a month prior to that, someone had Quit, and someone else did so about a month after I was Sacked
The Manager herself, who turned down TWO Guaranteed Jobs with the first Out-Source Company, and who had twenty Staff leave over the course of the two years that she was there (most had Quit....about five were Sacked), and who had Signed a Contract with the New Company, handed in her Notice in December, and she left in February this year....thus taking ALL the Power away from that Little Troll of a 'Team Leader'
Thanks to my staying in Contact with a couple of the staff that stayed there, I have since found out that there's about to be a New Manager taking over from the one that took over from the one that Quit, and the Troll herself has FINALLY Quit, and will be leaving within the next couple of weeks
YAY!!!!
Hmmmm....
I wonder if this means I'll get my Job back now??
The Job that I was FOREVER Hinded in doing, simply by that Troll being there, but which was frequently made harder to do simply by that Troll coming up to me and saying "You don't seem to have enough to do, I'll give you more work"
This, besides the Fact, that I was actually doing the Work of four people, and mostly without any Help, and yet they STILL Complained when I actually managed to Complete it
Again....
Go Figure
I've been told that the Troll is going to some Records Management Job for the Government
I give her a Month at most before they find out how Useless she is and Sack her
And it would not Surprise me in the Least if she actually Applied as a 'Team Leader', simply because she had that 'Position' with us
