Stupid People

More from the 'Stupid People' Files....

There is something in Australia and New Zealand known as 'The Entertainment Book', which is a Book full of Vouchers for....various things, from Dining Out to Car Rentals....

Naturally, that includes the Car Rental Company that I Work for

Now, simply being a Member of this thing will give the Card Holder (Non Transferrable....and yes, we *can* Check even though there appears to be no Name on it, as the Customer would need to provide Proof that it's *THEIR* Card) a Basic Discount of 2%

Naturally, though, the people that have these don't bother to actually *read* the Vouchers, and Presume that they get a Discount on *EVERYTHING*

Worse yet, they Call us up and say, "I've got the Entertainment Book", even though they're trying to use it on a Tarago, for example, even though there arn't any Vouchers for that, and they'll actually say to us, "Well, which Voucher would *you* recommend?"

Usually when they ask that I just ask them if they have the Book with them at the time, which in a lot of cases, they don't, and I just kinda 'remind' them that it's a Book with Vouchers

In other words, it's *THEIR* Decision as to which one to actually use....

At least it *would* be, if they actually read the Terms and Conditions once in awhile

Had a Perfect Exaple of that one only last week....

Someone wanted to use the Voucher for a Free Day over a Weekend....

They wanted to have the Rental for 6 days, and the Conditions say a Maximum of 5 days for this Voucher

I had to Explain that to her 4 times before she finally got it!!

And people wonder why we actually *HATE* the Entertainment Book

On the Subject of 'Tarago' style Vehicles....

Frequently we get people wanting to get a Tarago or similar, which is 'Classified' as an 8-Seater, because it will seat up to 6 Adults and 2 Children....

Invariably, people only look at '8-Seater', without looking at the Specifics at all

I frequently get people asking for one of these things when they want to have 7-8 Adults in it, which it simply doesn't have the Capacity for, and yet still asking if it will be able to fit them in

Obviously not, as it's got 2 small seats for Kids in it, which can't be removed, and thus won't allow an Adult Passenger to sit there!!

I frequently get people calling just for a Quote....

Nothing really wrong with that

However, they call up without any real Idea of when they want it for, for how long, or for what type of Vehicle

"All I want is a Quote at this time"

That's all well and good, but our Rates Change on a Daily Basis (heck....I've seen it change 3 times in one day at times), so the Price I Quote today will *ONLY* be Valid for today

Yes, I'm Fully Aware that it's part of my Job to give Quotes as well as actually make Booking, but, frankly, it would make things just a *little* bit easier if they actually have a Clue about when they want the Car, how long for, and what type of Car....

Is *that* really too much to ask??

Similarly, I get people calling that are Members of R.A.C.V. or similar

Again, nothing wrong there

However, I can only Quote them on the Basic Discount of 4%, and if they have any higher Discounts, they actually need to Book through their Auto-Club....R.A.C.V. or similar, depending on which State they're in

A number of people are okay with that as the Price that I Quote them will still give them an Idea of what it will Cost them

Alas, there always seem to be a few that arn't actually okay with that, and Presume that I'm giving them Bad Service, in the "So, you can't actually give me a Price?" frame of mind

But....the Winner in this lot would definately have to be a Call that one of my Colleagues got only last week....

Someone called up because they wanted a Refridgerated Van....apparantly to move a Dead Body!!

My Colleague naturally thought this was some kind of Prank, like from a Radio Station, but continued with the Query nonetheless....

My Colleague then asked this person, "When do you need it for?"

To which this person answered, "I don't know, I'm not Dead yet"
