[There's a pause, and an audible sound of something between horror and disgust. He likes Genius, but he can't connect the guy he knows with someone who does that.]
...there's got to be an explanation. No one'd do that just to experiment.
[Except they would, because damn it all, that sort of thing sounds familiar to him too.]
ohhh there's the f bomb again O.Oman_geniusJanuary 26 2011, 01:36:36 UTC
[His voice is soft but firm]
It wasn't an experiment. It was a procedure, you came to me to have your brain wiped and in return you worked for the same people I worked for. Why, I don't know. I was just the tech guy.
...You wanna hate me, then hate me. I'm through with the ups and downs my stupid past brings every time this place decides to fuck with us.
Hello f-bomb o/longnosedliarJanuary 26 2011, 01:45:52 UTC
Oi, don't go making such hasty conclusions. I never said that.
[He sounds a little angry, actually, which is relatively rare considering his usual good nature. Regardless, he doesn't speak for a while.
They came... so maybe they brought people for their minds to be wiped so they could become workers. Prisoners? Probably prisoners. You could do anything to prisoners and people wouldn't complain.
Okay, so he can't actually think of anything to say.]
funny how some people are just precious when they swear. XDlongnosedliarJanuary 26 2011, 05:44:44 UTC
Nnh.
[Sniper's thinking... well, about a lot of things.]
This is wrong. People shouldn't be able to hear others' memories. And--and... gah. I dunno what to think about all--all that, Genius, but it doesn't sound good, but we don't know the full story. I guess.
If the technology exists, if it will ever exist here, you won't do it here. Even if it seems right. I think... I think death would be better. [He sounds a little scared and a little defiant, because death scares him... but there is honour. And taking someone's soul away means that they can't die with honour, and isn't that one of the most important things in life?]
seriously the man doesnt even say shit. He says poo.man_geniusJanuary 26 2011, 06:51:00 UTC
Do you want the full story?
[Man's throwing it all on the table since this is what the sphere wants. He's actually closer to the edge than he sounds right now]
If the technology exists here I would destroy it first. I didn't do this you know. I--when people met my double in Adstringendum--and God, maybe that was just another manipulation of Them making us see what we wanted to see, I don't know--but when they met me, the other me, he said said that the company I--me--we--worked for didn't cause Edensphere. So. I--
You probably have no idea what I'm talking about. So I'mma gonna shut up now.
...oh geniuslongnosedliarJanuary 26 2011, 07:09:48 UTC
You guys creating Edensphere didn't cross my mind, [Sniper murmurs. He drums his fingers anxiously on the floor.]
I don't know what Astringad--astridgeb--whatever that is is. Or... what?
L-look, all I'm saying is that you couldn't have made this place, because you're wiping away souls or personalities or, or, whatever. And even if we have no memories, we're still us. I'm still me. I mean, I think I'm still me. This is the only me I know. If I could recreate me I think I'd be kind of different. Or if someone else could recreate me, because I don't think they'd make me so... me-ish. It sounds kind of like something the marines would do, and they'd want fighters, not... mes. Or yous.
[Sniper's head is not meant for philosophy. He sighs.]
Wait, let me start over.
[.............]
Ugh, I'm confused. You did that whole soul-thingy, Cloud has mushi following him around, whatever that is, and everyone's talking about Gods and some person's memory had BY MY COUSIN'S KIDNEY as a war cry, and that's just dumb.
that icon is so cuteman_geniusJanuary 27 2011, 00:00:43 UTC
Adstringendum is a place that appeared in the wilderness--the only place to my knowledge that was occupied with real people, not mannequins. Some of us had doubles in that place. Exact copies, complete with memories. I had one. Gai had one, Qi, Fracta. A few others. I met someone else from my world too, her name is Catherine.
I--You--what?
Ok slow down. First thing, we only think we're ourselves because we have nothing to judge against. Secondly, what do the marines have to do with this?
You're not the only one confused.
They're playing with us. They're trying to turn everyone against everyone--except for that Kidney person, I have no idea what's up with them.
Haha isn't it? I love that one.longnosedliarJanuary 27 2011, 03:21:57 UTC
...oh. [He's not sure how he feels about that one.]
No, I think I'm myself because I am myself. [He sounds a little sullen at that.] I've had memories--okay, one memory, and I was definitely me there. And I was just saying it sounds like something the marines would do. You know, the government? They're all over that perfect soldier stuff, and I don't see any point in wiping away people's... souls unless you're going to put something back in.
D'you think so? Some people's memories weren't all that bad. [A pause as he remembers that he's a pirate, and though he's proud of it... he doesn't want anyone to hear him hurting someone else. He doesn't think he hurt a lot of people, but that's what pirates do.] I hope I don't get one.
Well maybe you think you're yourself because they told you think you're you--you know what? Just don't think about it, you'll get a horrible stomach ache like I always do.
Perfect soldier? [That sounds right] I suppose they would. We're not them though. I think we're just the lab rats. Social experiments taken to an extreme level.
It's still an invasion of privacy! Good or bad, no one should see another person's memories. I hope you don't either.
Yeah, yeah, and maybe all our memories are fake to trick us into thinking that we're us. I've thought about it before. Lots. And then I go blow stuff up.
Social experiment... I've never heard of that before, but I think I can guess what it means.
Last memory I got, whenever someone touched me, they actually experienced it. That was worse.
Wipe away... their soul?

They have build our own society and then introduce random elements to make us freak out. Then they remove them. Wash, rinse, repeat.
