(no subject)
Well the Osos de la Frontera function didn't go as planned last week. The person who owned the bar / restaurant didn't show up to open for the group and wouldn't return the phone calls. No worries though. We regrouped at Alaska in downtown Reynosa and didn't leave until 5am.....making the hour long car ride home brutal but we had sooooo much fun so it was completely worth it.
The week has been really busy at work. It looks like we are going to be able to produce an architectural design pattern book for the historic portions of my city. I've really been wanting to this and the stars aligned perfectly. I am applying for a 40,000 grant but doing it thorugh another (friendly) department so that my boss can't steal the funds and kill the project. It looks like we may get the grant but I'll know tomorrow. For the past two days I've been politiking, getting the support of electeds, the university, neighborhood groups, historic associations, etc. I really hope this happens. It will make such a positive impact in our neigborhoods. Knock on wood it works.
This weekend was filled with work. I hung out with friends and watched movies, went to McAllen and bought way too many DVD's, worked on the house, built planters, planted a bunch of tropical plants, dug out a retention pond a little more, planted impatients, went to the pulga "flea market" and bought produce. I still need to fix my mail box as the one of the little thugs living down the street punched a hole though it halloween night but I'll try to do that tomorrow. I also saw family guy for the first time. It's hilarious. I'm not really sure why I never watched it before. And talked to Rodo a lot by phone. He's still in Toluca but hopefully I get to see him come thanksgiving. I miss him sooo much. I can't wait until we are together again. I'm off to finsh my wine and relax. Ciao for now.
