if my van could be transformed into human, she would be a huge black jamaican woman who says "honey" and "baby" al ot and would kick anyone's ass who even looked at me wrong.
leila has taken deathly ill. she will not be with us much longer. we have taken the proper steps toward replacing her. But lets be honest, no matter what this new vehicle is, it will only aid me in transportation. nothing could ever replace leila as a friend. and nothing could ever take her place in my heart.
sure this new vehicle may have windows that work, air conditioning and heating, a horn that works, the doors will probably close every time, and it probably won't need zip-ties to hold the hood and grill on, but that is all worthless compared to the companionship leila has given me. from the time she caught fire, to the time her door fell off, to the time her windshield wipers flew off in a thunderstorm, to the day we found out there was no strip of road long enough for leila to pass 65 mph, i have only felt safe in secure in her arms knowing that i was surrounded by enough steel to build a bridge.
we will be donating leila to a charity soon. i'm not sure how she will serve them. they may use her as shelter for the homeless or she may serve as a shield for our troops in the middle east. either way she will continue to spread big black woman love however she can. god bless her.
if anyone would like to share a memory of my raging vehicle of glory or would like to say a few last words to her, they would be greatly appreciated. if you would like to mourn silently, we understand.
