Crotchety Neighbors and Pets

What would you do if a crotchety neighbor started to complain about the smell coming from your farm animals that you've had for nearly a year by now and there are no laws in your area forbidding farm animals in your area, and in fact, it is quite accepted and common in your locale?

We've owned egg laying hens for nearly a year by now. There are at least 4 or 5 families on my block alone (probably lots more) that own chickens. My neighbors never said a word.
A few days ago, a neighbor came to us and said that the smell from our chicken coop is really bothering her daughter and that her daughter wasnt able to go into the yard at all because the smell bothered her that much. Honestly, I never smelled anything, but I'll admit I don't have the keenest sense of smell.
But if the smell bothers her that much, why am I first hearing about this nearly a year after we bought the chickens?
And honestly, what does she expect me to do? Get rid of the chickens because she doesn't like me having them?

Would you do anything differently once a neighbor says the smell of your animals is bothersome, or just nod your head and continue life as before?

animals, pets, thriftiness, neighbors, relationships
