Thank you. I think you never really get over losing someone you love -- furry or otherwise. I guess we're lucky to have the time we do have with those we love, and the grief we feel when they're gone is the price we pay to have them in our lives. It's worth it. I miss him terribly, but he truly changed my life. That sounds like an exaggeration, but it's really not. That dog affected me in a way that very few people have been able to. I never would have expected that an animal could love me that much -- or the other way around!

The kids are doing OK with it. I'm seeing them work through it, now, which is a good thing. You're right, they don't get it the way we do, and fortunately, we've never really had to deal with grief with the children, so I really didn't know what to expect. They didn't grieve like I thought they would, although we have had some truly heartwarming (and really deeply spiritual) discussions about death, the afterlife, and our dear Cody. Kids are so much more in tune with everything than anybody ever thinks they are.
