I'm sorry your Grandma isn't doing well. It's never easy, is it? And I am so so sorry about Cody. I had a beloved dog that we had to have put to sleep...well, in January it will be four years. And I still miss her, and can get teary. It happens much more infrequently now, but I think that society sort of downplays the roles our pets have in our lives and how deeply affected we can be by their loss. Let yourself grieve, and don't feel strangely that your kids are handling it differently. They don't get it the way grown-ups do. They aren't as close to it. Take care of yourself, and enjoy the Clay Center!
Thank you. I think you never really get over losing someone you love -- furry or otherwise. I guess we're lucky to have the time we do have with those we love, and the grief we feel when they're gone is the price we pay to have them in our lives. It's worth it. I miss him terribly, but he truly changed my life. That sounds like an exaggeration, but it's really not. That dog affected me in a way that very few people have been able to. I never would have expected that an animal could love me that much -- or the other way around
