Yet another snow day yesterday -- I think that was #5 for this school year, which bodes ill for June, sigh. But unlike our previous snow day a couple weeks ago, when we were told to expect 8-12 inches and got barely 2, this one actually did involve a real snowstorm. I just wanted to brag that yesterday I made a lemon cake for my mom's birthday celebration (actual birthday is tomorrow) and it was awesome. I googled for the recipe and took a chance, and it came out great. Go me! :)

I just checked my 2008recipes tag and as of the last time I updated it, I was up to 53. I know that I did at least two more recipes that I never managed to post about -- one with butternut squash and pasta for Thanksgiving (like mac-n-cheese but vegan and with the squash and coconut milk standing in for the cheese), which was really good, and also ( Read more... )

A few people asked for the recipe of the granola bars I made last week, so here it is on allrecipes.com. I added flax seeds and chocolate chips, and omitted the raisins. The comments have lots of good ideas of how to modify or vary the recipe -- I definitely want to try adding sunflower and sesame seeds, decreasing the sugar, replacing some of the ( Read more... )
