This evening I saw first shootings of new Riva (promenade by the sea in my town) after maybe 7 moths of work.
And I'm not very happy. Yes, I agree that riva needed makeover...but some things are just not right.
- It's too modern, which just doesn't fit with 1700 years old palace. And too white.
- Instead of violets and heartsease that were planted before, they put some spice herbs (true Mediterranean, but still, not colorful as before)
- They removed fountain on which I was drinking eveytime I would come to Riva since I was a kid!! And it was very nice one...
- They put some awful illumination lamps that look like gallows!
- They didn't fix the wall by the sea on which young people use to sit when they go out. And that wall is important, because everytime jugo blows waves crash into that wall and often break it. So it's a barrier from waves that must be made well. But they kept old wall instead of changing that too.
And one of the latest stories I heard is that they plan on destroying Matejuška, one of the oldest parts of the town which is dear to people because of it's history, many memories, and special atmosphere. Why? To make PARKING SPACES!!!!
This is
simulation how they imagined it.
The video they showed on tv , how it looks today. By night. Of course, because it looks better by night.
You couldn't see that illumination and plants...
GRRRR!! I hope that can be fixed.
Anyway, it's not finished yet. We'll see in next few weeks.
