Vegas baby!

Vegas was great!  It certainly is better when your not 6 months pregnant. XD
I'm breaking it down into days since that will be easiest on me. :P

Thrusday: Get to airport at an obscenely early hour.  Traffic was decent and then when I got there I found that I had packed light enough that I didn't need to check my bag, plus I had my boarding pass already.  Just had to go through security which had a pretty short line at the time.  Wound up actually 2 hours early for my plane so sat and chatted with the rest of the Devnet wives.  Came to the conclusion that I am an utter geek.  All of them started talking about what famous people they'd love to pounce,  I kinda blinked and went "Uh...Thrall?" in my brain.  Yep, the geek here goes for fictional characters over actual stars. T_T
Anyways, Mike and Joe were the ones coming to pick us up.  That way there would be plenty of room in the van for all 5 of the wives and baggage.
Instead all the Devnet guys were there and every single one had a rose for his sweetie.  Was so cute.  Specially when Anna decided she wasn't going to wait another second and ran off and tackled Joe. XD
Wanted to do that to but my bag prevented that.  Oh well Mike was just happy to see me and missed me. :)

Now Mike knows I've been exhausted from fighting AJ the last few nights.  AJ's discovered he can sneak out of bed and play with toys even after he's been put to bed, so yeah I was up late making him stay in bed and then I had things to do after he went to bed, plus insomnia.  Becky was mildly sleep deprived by the time I got there.  So Mike tucked me into bed for a good nap.  Personally I would happily pay out the nose for one of the beds from the Bellagio.  They kinda suck you in and your out cold before 5 minutes has past cause they're so soft.  So I  crashed really hard.  Like Post Nero event hard.

After about 3 hours Mike pokes me up and we start walking.  We were due at a restaurant in Mandalay Bay around 7ish for dinner with the rest of the Devnet crew.  On the way we visited all the hotels on the way, just to see what they were like inside.  Luxor was really cool and Mandalay Bay was really cool too.  Excaliber and Monte Carlo were rather blah.  They need work, seriously if they are going to be demanding so much money.

Anyways, went to a place called The Red Square for dinner.  The theme is amusing.  What better way to make fun of Communism then to make a bar out of it. XD  All the food (which was really good by the way) was Russian themed.  The bar even had an ice top!   At the end of the night we all went into the vodka freezer.  When you go in there you are put into fur coats because it's that frackin cold.  Then you pick a bottle of vodka and you have to drink it till it's gone, via shots off Lenin's head.  Thankfully there was a bunch of us so we made short work of the bottle, after the girl told us the proper way to drink hard liquor.  Yes there is a proper way which doesn't cause you to cough up a lung or the like. ;)

After that it was really late, well for us all anyways.  It's was only like 10 for Vegas but that's like 12 for us and I was still exhausted.  Hence bed and me reducing Mike to drool monster. ;)

Friday:  Was spent gambling and taking in the sights.  When off with Sue and Anna for "shopping".  Apparently they wanted their boys to get them blue boxes.  I felt silly cause I had no idea what they meant until someone finally said "Tiffany's".  Went in with them but didn't really see anything I liked even to pout at Mike for.  We did look at other stuff and shake our heads at the stupid amounts of money people ask for things along with the ugly things people would buy for said horrible amount.
Now until after dinner Mike had done all the gambling.  I pretty much stayed away cause my luck is horrendous normally.
Apparently though I have decent luck in gambling.  Mike gave me 5 bucks to gamble with, I figured giving me small amounts was a good idea since I was bound to lose it all.
I took that 5 bucks and somehow managed to turn it into 60 on penny slots.  I am of course thinking it's just beginner's luck.

Saturday:  Got up and Mike dragged me off for dim sung.  Hope I spelled that right.  Anyways, him and the boys had been going on about it and confused me to no end.  Turns out dim sung is basically a buffet style asian food deal where you don't have to get up.  They come around on carts and you take what you want for your table.  I myself LOVED the sweet rolls.  It was all very tasty and I hear there are places in the area that do this so I'm hoping I can repeat the experience soon. :D

Then it was off to the spa for me.  I seriously walked in and thought they might punt me out again for not being pretty enough for the surroundings.  Yes there are places in Vegas that will deny you on grounds of your appearance, we're usually good about avoiding said places that suck anyways.  So got a really good massage from a lady named Wanda then soak in the jacuzzi...butt naked.  It's actually really nice and I highly recommend it to folks

Anyways, then I went to get my hair done.  The girl was thankfully very patient with my irritating hair and did it wonderfully to go with my dress.  I swear I saw her get the most evil smile when I mentioned the dress made me think Marylin Monroe.

So hair gets done and I go back to the room to finish getting ready, it's early but we were planning on wandering about for a bit before dinner anyways.

Minute I walk in the door I know something is up.  At first I'm thinking our house burned down or something.  The day before our smoke alarms kept going off for no obvious reason.  Jim finally had to just pull them off the ceilings since they were wired to the house and couldn't be turned off.

Nope.  Turns out Mike's sister Katie went to the hospital.  They found cysts in some nasty spots.  So Mike is upset for obvious reasons and slow to get moving.  He just wants to escape into his book pretty much.  I ask if he just wants to cancel tonight and go home.  I would hate to do it but I would understand.  Mike says no but he just wants to read a bit to get his mind off it.
I tell him ok but I'm going to get dressed so I know everything works and then I'd go back downstairs and gamble some more.  Mike's fine with that.

So I go get dressed, made up, etc.  Get done and I'm sitting there cursing the lack of a full size mirror, before I realize there's a mirrored wall right next to the bed.  So I go to check myself and make sure nothing is showing that shouldn't be.  All I hear from behind me (where Mike should be busy with his book) is "Wow..."
Someone got dressed in a hurry then. ;)
So on the way to the Venetian (where our dinner reservations and the show was) we ran into 2 of the Devnet crew.  Neither recognized me and both times the eyes went big like "Holy cow".
I believe Kelly said it best.  I clean up good. XD

Only bad thing was that Mike somehow misplaced his wallet.  We wound up spending the time we were going to use walking about and looking at things looking for his wallet instead.  We were running mildly late then.  Mike was slightly fretting over it when we got a cab and I told him not to panic we still had time.  After all our reservations were for 6:30 and it was 6, though we did need to pick up our tickets for Phantom still.

Apparently our cabbie overheard me even though he'd been talking into his mic to other cabbies.   We're sitting in snail pace traffic for whatever reason and the cab goes into the turn lane.  Now I don't know Vegas so I assumed he's taking a back way or something.  Even though he skips a couple perfectly good times to turn and doesn't have a turn signal on.  Then the light went green and he guns it.   Getting us back into the correct lane and out of the evil traffic.  Mike was grinning like he wanted to laugh but was worried about my reaction and went "Nicely done sir."  The cab guy was like "Thanks.  They really need to fix that area, it's always that bad but for no reason other then the Harrah's right there."  Mike gave the guy a 10 buck tip for effort as he put it.

Anyways, dinner was awesome.  We ate at a place called Aquanaunts.   It's one of the few places in Vegas that we saw that did seafood that wasn't sushi.  Nothing wrong with sushi mind you but it's not the only fish in the sea of seafood you know?  We both had the surf and turf, which was steak and lobster.  Oh my god it was soooooo tasty.  They also made a really really good chocolate martini, which is the only kind of martini I'll drink pretty much.  You could just barely taste the kick of the alcohol so it made me borrow the phrase "Quik with a kick".  Our server was really nice too and recommended a number of other places to try out for the next time we're out.  He was also nice enough to stop in the middle of the rush even though he was horrendously busy and give me a quick lesson on taking apart lobster, since I was failing for fear of making my dress a mess.  He also got a fat tip from Mike.

Now it was time for the show.  I'm doing my best not to be a giddy school girl and be all adult dignity and such.  Yeah I failed in epic proportions.
Now I have never seen anything on Phantom of the Opera.  No idea the plot or the like.  Heard a couple tunes from the score but that's really it.  So Mike and I are being seated and I'm kinda blinking up at 3 chandeliers in confusion.  They're all sitting cockeyed and in odd spots on the ceiling.  Mike of course notices my attention and asks what's wrong.
I'm sitting here staring at the the chandelier that's right over our heads.  By right over our heads I mean I could stand on my seat and grab it, it was that close.  I ask Mike about it cause I'm thinking these people are nuts to stick folks under a broken chandelier.  Now I know why Mike is good at poker.  He managed to just go "Oh it's nothing big I'm sure hon." without cracking.

Anyways, on with the show eh?   Now for whatever reason my brain failed to process the 'accident' part of the conversation and I was busy going "Oh pretty lights" as they put the 3 chandeliers together into one big chandelier...that's right over Mike and me.  They even had the guy who played Phantom dangling from it over our heads, close enough that I could take a guess at his shoe size and I'm pretty sure he's got brown eyes.

The highlight of course had to be the actual 'accident'.  I had totally forgotten about it till the actors said something about the chandelier and I look up just in time to see it coming down on my head.  I of course shriek "OH SHIT!" and duck and cover.  So much for adult dignity, in fact I'm pretty sure the entire theater heard me.  Sadly the night had to end after that since we had an early flight home the next day.  Stupid early flights....

All in all was a great night.  Great weekend actually, had tons of fun and didn't go into parent mode to much, though we did miss AJ lots and we were happy to be home.  Best part of coming home was AJ running to us going "Mama! Daddy!"
Side note: Katie is doing fine.  She had surgery and is recovering now. :)
