So, as I've posted before, I've been cooking a lot more lately. Last night I went to one of my 'quick and easy things', jambalaya with andouille sausages.
We'd gone to Whole Foods this weekend and picked up a some tasty sausages from there and also a package of the jambalaya mix, figuring it'd probably be tastier than Zatarain's (which I usually use since I've not yet taken the time to pick over the seasonings I'd need to make a tasty fully homemade version).
Oh boy were we disappointed. It tasted like someone poured a cup of salt, a cup of sugar and some Texas Pete on the rice. I felt guilty messing up those poor sausages like that.
This is the stuff, I highly recommend completely avoiding it. I don't often say the food I make is disgusting, but this was just that. Absolutely disgusting. I fished out the sausages and dumped the rest. I was glad I'd actually cooked the sausages seperate so they didn't soak up too much of the nastiness.
In other news, I can't believe it's snowed again! The schools were cancelled for the 3rd time thus far this year yesterday and they went in late today. Craziness. The male child and myself made an itty bitty snowman in a flowerpot on our porch. Berries for eyes and an icicle nose hehe. And to think Friday I had been considering digging out a pair of shorts to wear because I was so hot lol. Woo woo NC weather.
