I love a matinee.

Wow. I had the best time at The Big Wu show last night here in Des Moines. I asked them to play Southern Energy and they just ran with it and blew me away. Floodplane opened for them. I used to see them in Ames, so it was nice to get reminded of college times, I guess. I went to the show with Kees, who I worked with while in college, and his friend John. Ran into Shelly, who miracled me into an SCI show July 2001. We boogied it up front. What great energy. After the first set I got my ground score: a white stocking cap with Big Wu embroidered on it with pink thread. It might be too small for my big head, but fuck yeah; I love me a good ground score. During the set break I stepped into the bar next door to whiz and while washing my hands ran into Jessica! I haven't seen her forever; she essentially introduced me to my husband. Wow that was wild, I couldn't stop giggling. We definitely exchanged information. I only had one beer and a bunch of water, because of the 2 NoDoz I took to stay up. I was up since 5:30 yesterday morning after all. I went to sleep at 2:30 and you'd better believe I was pissed I only slept in 'til 8:30 today! What is up with that?

I think the stamp on my hand was supposed to say BABY but the first B was just a dark block which means my stamp said -ABY. That made me smile.

So I'm thinking about taking a bath and a nap and then going to see the new Jim Carrey-matinee style-before heading to Iowa City. I'm supposed to meet Chuck at the library there around 5:00 so we can check out The Slip tonight. I want a teeshirt.

I suppose while I'm updated I should mention that my son is two now! When prompted he'll say, "I'm two!" He's awesome. We had a party for him at our house last Saturday. I bought some pound cakes and Chuck and I decorated them to look like a choo choo train. It turned out great, but we made too much and still have the caboose in our fridge. Abe got a bunch of toys, a Lego table, a book, a Lion King towel/washcloth set, some tye dyed shirts, and pajamas. I'm grateful to everyone that bought my son gifts. When people asked what he needed I told them outdoor toys and he got a play lawn mower that he adores, a bball bat, golf set, 5 balls, a fire truck, and a couple of dump trucks.

Chuck has been in Ohio since Sunday. He got on a Greyhound after Abe's party to go visit his aunt Brenda. She's sick, but I guess she's doing better than last week. His dad is driving him to IA City as we speak. I got a call from him the other night saying he was in a Cincinnati hotel with a female (he used to crush on hard), her mom, and another guy. That made me feel a little weird but I can not be bothered by that because it is stupid if you know Chuck.
