There are more things in heaven and earth...

WE HAVE DEFEATED THE GREAT OLD ONES!
At least in the world of tabletop gaming, anyway. Yes, knofc, Michael, Shawna and I managed to close all the dimensional portals in Arkham before Ithaqua the Wind Walker woke up and devoured mankind. You are all so very welcome.

In not-quite-so-fucking-geeky news... My readings for >Naked Girls Reading have been finalised. The theme as I mentioned before is "Heaven and Hell" and I had wanted to read from Murder Mysteries but it's pretty much impossible to pick one five-minute selection from that one. So instead I'm doing The Gates, Rosemary's Baby and after some debate I cut Ramsey Dukes from my list in favour of a selection by Anne Rice about heaven that Diamond suggested. (We were a little heavy on the Hell.)

My mom came into town yesterday and graciously drove us all over the place to look for apartments. We shall see if any pan out. I found two more maybes when I was walking to Diamond's last night for the read-throughs that I will contact today.

We went to Dempsey's to pick up Mom's book order for the shop. There were two books I personally wanted a copy of so we had ordered two of each, but sadly only one copy of one title was in. Mom was nice enough to let me have it anyway, so she'll get the other one next week. The book in question is Witchcraft Medicine: Healing Arts, Shamanic Practices, and Forbidden Plants by Claudia Müller-Ebeling, Christian Rätsch, and Wolf-Dieter Storl Ph.D. I saw it reviewed on Pagan Bookworm and was impressed, so the last time I was at Banyen I looked to see if they had it. They did, and my brief scan of it was also impressive, so onto the list it went. I'm really glad it did. It's not your standard 101 Guide-to-Magic-Herbs sort of affair at all. It seems to be very well researched, and on the more shallow side it is just gorgeous with plenty of illustrations and colour photographs. I like illustrations, especially in a herbal so I can know what the fuck the plant looks like! Anyway, I've yet to actually read the whole thing but I'll certainly let you all know what I think when I do. (There's a poison section. This pleases me.)
