Been a long time...
Some reviews of some Chaos Theory V's first.
#1 Snake Oil today. Having not tried simply the base on me, but having tried some of the snake pits and deduced what just Snake Oil would smell like, this seems to be it. Pure Snake Oil on me. It fades pretty quickly, within the hour. I applied it three times, and on the third try I almost got something evergreenish that came and went until the scent was gone an hour later. It was so faint I couldn't peg it down more than that. I liked the spicy vanilla of the Snake Oil, though. It was a very dusky scent if that makes sense.
#2 Penitence went on after my shower. This definitely foodie on me, almost a floral citrusy but I smell bread? I think I'm going to let my nose puzzle over it over night and see what it's like by morning, probably reapply then, too, and see how it changes throughout the day and what I get in different settings (I'm pretty mellow right now, but I've noticed a tendency to amp hidden notes when I'm stressed.) Oh, on the other wrist there's an almost dirty note that I'm finding... hmmm. I will figure this out over tomorrow. I'll let it mull. #2 Penitence was odd. It kept going from evergreen to pure maple syrup on me. I don't know if my chemistry was just really wonky with the blend or if it's that much of a morpher or what, but I've tried it twice and that's what I get in the end.
#3 O reminded me of some old dryer sheets and laundry soap my mom used to use. It was clean linen and light florals with something golden (maybe amber from the base?) underneath on me. It was pleasant enough to smell again, but more something for my clothes and not for me.
#4 O is sweet, like a maple butter walnut blondie. Very lightly nutty. Thankfully no amber in this one, it's foodie all the way on me. Amber tends to skunk out on me.
#5 Snake Oil was very green and herbal with vanilla. I want to retest to see if I can pick out the greens and herbs because I couldn't the first try.
#6 Dorian is love. Oh my god this scent is love. The light musks (definitely skin musk and some other slightly sharper musk) melding with tea and sweet (sugar or vanilla? - Dorian notes say vanilla, so that might be it) and some spices (I think nutmeg?) and a light floral in the background (possibly a carnation or a light rose?) This is one I will hoard - too bad it's a one of a kind. I would fall in love with a CT. !!! I was able to buy the bottle from the woman who sent me the tester! ^_^ *loves*
Sugar Cookie 2008 - Affectionately nicknamed 'The Devil's Bake Sale'. - Caramel doughy sweet on me. Probably holding on, but I don't LOVE it. I enjoy it.
The Oval Portrait - Gentle beauty and innocent devotion: honeysuckle, carnation, stargazer lily, bluebonnet, vanilla musk, and rice flower. - Almost sour on me, probably the lily and rice flower, maybe some of the honeysuckle. As much as I paid for this one ages ago, I think it's going to be passed on.
Dia - White amber, coconut, white musk, oakmoss, and tobacco flower. - A frimp and a surprising like! Oakmoss and tobacco usually skunk out on me, and amber is eww gross, but apparently with white musk and coconut, it's a lovely scent... definitely sexy.
Follow Me Boy - A houdoun recipe dating back almost 150 years. This blend is favored by prostitutes, exotic dancers and others in the sex industry for its power to attract, seduce, and enthrall. Ensures financial gain and increased profits. - I get cinnamon, musk and woodsy notes. It is awesome... will be using this again...
Morgause - A bouquet of five night-blooming flowers deepened by dusky violet, purple fruits and the barest breath of medieval incenses. This is very purple and darkly sweet. Not a me scent.
Envy - Green herbs slithering through mint, lime and lavender. - Eww gross. Lavender does what lavender does and that is - skunk out on me. and with the lime? Eww gross.
Jack - The scent of warm, glowing jack o’lanterns on a warm autumn night: true Halloween pumpkin, spiced with nutmeg, glowing peach and murky clove. - Yummy pumpkin spice! Makes me want to nibble my wrists.
Hope - Hope is sugared rose. - Yup, it is. and I love that. I really want to try Faith, too (sugared violets!)
Maiden - A gentle vision of purity, goodness and virtue: white tea, carnation and Damask Rose. - So light and fresh! I adore carnation and the white tea lightens the rose to a fresh cut spring rose and dew... it's heavenly. Must have a bottle.
Rose Cross - This is a holy oil, a representation of the triumph of spirit over matter: purest rose with sacred frankincense. - Way too grandma's rose perfume on me. No. Nope. Passing on.
London - Venerable Victorian Tea Rose… twisted, blackened and emboldened with wickedness. - What the hell is in here with the tea rose? It's sweet and sour and fruity... black currant? Not sure about this one.
Prague - Crocus with snowdrop and three lilies. - Light floral and fresh. I love this.
Sybaris - Bright violet with sweet clove, Mediterranean incense notes and tonka bean - I love the violet, but the spices and incense just make it a no.
Eden (aged) - fig leaf, fig fruit, honeyed almond milk, toasted coconut and sandalwood - no, not a fan. It's the Sandalwood that kills this, as per usual. Sad.
Bess - Inspired by the tragic, ill-fated love of Queen Elizabeth I and the Earl of Leicester. This is our modernization of a 17th-century perfume blend favored by British aristocracy: rosemary, orange flower, grape spirit, five rose variants, lemon peel, and mint. - I'm not sure what to think about this one. It's fruity and herbal and floral and the combo either really works or really doesn't... I can't quite tell. It kinda reminds me of summers as a kid, outdoorsy and sticky popsicle residue.
