Since the only TV I really watched this year was Lost, I'm happy to see it's been nominated for a total of 13 emmy's, including Best Drama Series. I'm thinking Lost will take that one home since it's the final countdown. The same thing happened to Everybody Loves Raymond when it ended.
Terry O'Quinn and Michael Emerson are both up for best supporting actor noms which I fully support. And although I love Michael Emerson, I'm personally rooting for Terry this year. Michael was brilliant as always but Terry played two entirely different characters. He made me love John Locke and despise the Man in Black. If he doesn't win it will be a travesty. Matthew Fox is also up for best lead actor in a drama series and I know a lot of people hate Jack but I'm rooting for Matthew on this one. His performance in the finale blew me away, he really kicked it up a notch.
Non-related Lost nominations include Tony Shalhoub being nominated for Monk which ended an eight year run this year. Even though he's been nominated so many times and has won so many times, I'm rooting for him to take it home again this year. I didn't watch a lot of Monk this year but there will never be another character like Monk and Tony's performance of him was nothing short of remarkable. The Office is up for Best Comedy Series and Steve Carell is also up for best lead actor. Surprisingly, I'm not rooting for The Office this year, it was really stale and I don't think it deserves an Emmy. Unless you want to count best writing for Niagara. Going slightly off topic but if Steve Carell does indeed leave the show next year, I really hope NBC will let it go out with dignity. Nothing lasts forever and as far as I'm concerned: No Michael Scott=No show. Neil Patrick Harris is also up for best supporting actor for How I Met Your Mother which I hope he wins, he was robbed last year.
As for the snubs, I'm angry that Josh Holloway was snubbed again this year. He has really grown as an actor and has had so many amazing moments on the show. I'm also angry about Nestor being snubbed for his heartbreaking performance in Ab Aeterno but I guess they didn't want three actors on one show all in one category. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the nominations this year. What are your thoughts?
