I am so glad you have had this revelation: the youth of America is ignorant. it is perhaps the most true thing i know right now. its like the americans and the ones not effected try to get themselves so far away from the problem, surrounded in their wealth, that the problem becomes non-existent to them. they are ignorant to the cries of the world. Mallory, what you described above is EXACTLY what is happening to millions of people every day in Sudan, Nigeria, Congo, Zimbabwe, South Africa, India... i know that is even harder to grasp, but aids has literally CLAIMED ENTIRE GENERATIONS of people. I encourage you to look, as well as encourage others to look outside our own country. the world is crying, but wrapped up in the wealth and ignorance of the states, we have no idea.
"To satisfy all the world's sanitation and food requirements would cost only $13 billion, hardly as much as the people of the United States spend each year on perfume."
- Ignacio Ramonet, The Politics of Hunger, Le Monde Diplomatique, November 1998
my heart is breaking
i pray for truth to be revealed to the youth of america and sight to be clarified.
