the summer of greatness...thusfar

So far my summer is going pretty amazingly....to update on the internship....I am now an intern at Sound Hound in Times Square located at 45 W. 45th St....i've been working there for about two weeks and I love it!!!! I wake up rather early aka 530 so I have enough time to get ready and catch the 710 express to Grand Central and from there I hop on the the Times Square Shuttle to Times Square walk a few blocks to the office....
once I get into the office I help out the other intern with the morning stuff like putting out bagels and coffee, then i chill for abit, and do more errands like dropping off packages at MTV or VH1, filing stuff, and making sure the place looks presentable for clients, I also go on coffee runs for clients.....in the afternoon is when the fun begins

Sound Hound is a post production house which means that they are the last step in a long process of making tv commercials and movie trailers...they mix together all the music, bring in the voice over artists and record them, and essentially piece all the elements of the puzzle together to make a coherent and cohesive television commercial, promo for an upcoming television show, or a movie trailer....some of their main clients include the History Channel, Sci-fi channel, Animal Planet, Lifetime, USA Network, etc; so in the afternoons I sit-in on sessions with the mixer/producer and the clients and see how voice overs happen and how they mix everything together.....its pretty cool I got to meet the guy who is the voice behind all the movie trailers you know, "In a land before time...etc." (he was doing a movie trailer for this new Ben Afleck movie coming out in the fall called "He's Just Not That Into You") and I met the guy who does all the promos for the History Channel....it's been a really rewarding experience....

Then around 420ish I head out of the office and make the trek back to Grand Central and ultimately back to CT...and I do this twice a week....unfortunately the internship is not paid, but I get the best next thing...they pay for my train tickets (actually they bought me a 10 pass which is good for 10 roundtrip journeys from Stratford to Grand Central per month) and I use the company credit card to get lunch (today I had lunch @ Cosi's in Rockefeller Center which was awesome)....so I pretty much get to enjoy an internship without having to pay for anything....

It's a dream opportunity and everyone there is sooo nice and friendly to me and the majority of them are musicians and they are all impressed with me and my credentials :)

I guess the best part of it is being in NYC all on my own (not with my parents not even with Zac)....I've learned how to get around the city all by my own...less than a month ago not I nor my parents even thought this was possible, but  hear I am now having spent two weeks on my own in the city, buying my own subway passes, figuring out where I want to eat, ordering it, and not getting lost finding the place...in short I feel like a real New Yorker!!!!

for the most part my days have been occupied with the internship, trying to find a part time job, the finishing plans on my sister's wedding (it's in 3 wks!!!!), and composing, and spending time with zachary binks :)

summer 08' the summer of greatness ;)
