I just realized I have no idea how to spell "marijuana "

So I went to California last week.

I wanted a photo of the Adopt a Highway sign with "Medical Marijuana Growers Association" on it, but there was no way that was going to happen with a 65 mph speed limit and no real shoulder. We will all just have to settle for another photo of the Sonoma Coast instead.

It was a sedate vacation, as I spent most of the time hanging out with my grandparents, who can handle one minor outing per day. I did spend a day in San Francisco and a day driving around wine country, though.

I was staying at a house with no television, so the first I heard of the earthquake in Japan was when I went over to my grandparents' apartment that morning. After breakfast, we went into the complex's TV room to check the news, but as this was around the time they were expecting swells in California, they weren't going to talk about anything else. It was pretty frustrating to know that all of this stuff was going on in Japan and all we got was helicopter shots of Santa Clara with nothing happening.* I'm still surprised how little there's been on Hawaii from the major news sources. I had to go to local TV news websites for details.

Meanwhile, Wizard has some kind of lesion on the top of her head. The week before I left, it looked like skin was peeling up there to a greater degree than normal skin shedding. Now it looks much worse. The thing is, I don't know if it was even worse than this while I was gone and it's now healing, or if it's getting progressively worse. I'll give it another day or two to see whether it's getting better or worse, but I've found numbers for a couple of area vets who see reptiles just in case. I have no idea what this is. It doesn't look like an injury, especially given that it started as skin shedding. It could be a skin infection, or something caused by stress from being moved, or a symptom of an illness. It's kind of worrying, but she currently seems okay otherwise and has an appetite.

*They got slammed a bit later on, after we'd already given up and left on that day's outing.
