I have curtains in the bedroom!

This project has been on the table since December and I finally got it done.

I finished these at the beginning of this past week, but only just got them put up Friday evening. I'm very proud of how cheap and easy these turned out to be. The blue fabric was originally a big, long window scarf/swag/thing I got for cheap at a closing Linens 'N' Things and tore in half. I lined this with some light-blocking material (which I got using my JoAnn's coupon). The light blocking fabric was a little bit narrower than the blue fabric, which allowed me to just fold the already-hemmed edges of the blue fabric over the edges of the light-blocking lining and sew them down for a very tidy finish. The cut end of each curtain was folded over once narrowly, and then again at a greater width and sewn down to make the rod pocket. I wish I had been able to make the curtains longer so I could mount them a little higher. I had about a foot of blue fabric left over from each curtain, but I was limited by how much of the lining I'd bought.

The valance is just napkins bought on clearance at Pier 1 and draped over the second rod. (They look a lot less napkin-y when viewed from eye-level and not down on the floor in the weird, reverse-myspace way I like to photograph window treatments.)

Extending/re-redoing (whichever turns out to be easier) the living room valances are next on my list.

Also, my car hit 10,000 miles yesterday! I did not take a picture this time because I didn't have my camera and even if I did, photographing one's odometer while screaming through the city on the freeway is not particularly safe.
