I'm dedicating this weekend to John Legend. First of all, his concert on Friday night was absolutely amazing, although some things tainted it a bit. For starters, we had to wait in line for 3 hours before they let us in and some assholes in line tore down the tape separating parts of the line and cut (which immediately moved us from the front to the back of the line) and chaos ensued. One opening act had a real life video ho grinding on the altar in Glenn Memorial (a church for those who don't know), which seemed a bit inappropriate and was not what I wanted to see about being in line for 3 hours. The second opening act was Esthero, which was kind of hippie-ish and didn't go over well. After 3 songs, the lead girl said, "Do you want to hear another song?" and the entire audience yelled back, "NO!" Then she said, "Did you guys say no?" and the audience screamed back, "YES!" It was honestly rude and made me embarassed for my school that we're such assholes. They did another song and then John Legend came out. He was absolutely incredible, so much better than he sounds on his CD. His talent completely blew my mind. He would improv and do completely new versions of his songs, it was awesome. One of my favorite moments was when he did "Ordinary People" and the entire crowd sang along and knew every word and melisma, absolutely incredible performance. When he finished, the audience yelled for him to come back out and he did two more songs. I'm not gonna lie, I wanted to have his babies after Friday night (most everyone else I've talked to with a womb has too). Amazing. The second reason I'm dedicating this weekend to John Legend is because he created some seriously magical moments for me and my boy on Saturday night. Life is good, well except for the shitload of work I have to do. Other than that, perfect.
