Originally Jesse’s character was going to be lawyer, loosely based on Simon Baker’s ‘Nick Fallin’ character from legal drama The Guardian. And the character was going to have a young Simon Baker’s face. Basically, it was going to be a totally different character altogether, although in a very similar role of ‘friend’ to the boys.

'The Flock', i.e. the cult featured in the story is based on a combination of Scientology and Latter Day Saints, with elements of Transcendental Meditation, NLP and mind control techniques.

Isaac’s character originally had a much more marginal role; he had a fiancee back at the Compound and the plan was to force him to decide between her and life on the Outside with his brothers.
It’s safe to say that things worked out rather differently in the end…
