So I had a job interview today, and I actually think it went pretty well. I mean, I consider any interview where my mouth doesn't dry out and my voice doesn't shake as a success, but I think I have a good shot at this one. I'd be working with a research library as an administrative assistant, so I'm not actually working in circulation or helping people do research (which is what I'm most interested in), but I'd still be learning a lot about what all goes into a library's budget and working with the ARL and how libraries coordinate with each other/local museums to put together exhibits/educational programs and stuff like that, so I definitely think it'd be worth my while.
Plus the interviewer mentioned that some MLIS students use their work experience for course credit, so if this works out, I could already start working toward my master's (sort of).
And worse case scenario, I don't get it and I get to keep my current job (which has shit pay, but is still full-time with benefits, so I can't complain too much). And then I won't have to have the always painfully awkward "I'm leaving, here's my two weeks" conversation with my boss. So, uh... There's that if nothing else, I guess.
But yeah. That's me right now.
