Holy shit, I actually fulfilled my new years resolution for 2009... to live until 2010!
Much better than previous years, where I tried to quit smoking...
I've noticed people around me have a certain awareness of how repetitive life can be... Work, Bills, Sleep, Recreation... And some are bored or dissatisfied with it. Lately I've become very content (some might say insufferably so) with life and how little actually happens each day. Maybe I'm already a walking dead guy, happy to live until I don't anymore. It's easy to become happy and unattached if you stop trying to achieve, build, and make your mark on the world. The world goes on as it has for billions of years.
Just reminding others how loving kindness is really one of the only things that will go on after your body is gone. Material worries tend to teach non-attachment... Easy for me to say, since I have food and shelter, I guess. For 2010, I hope to help my friends and family be satisfied with the moment, and not have too much ennui relating to the future. I hope to use my time more effectively to grow food and maybe plant a tree or three.
Hare OM!
