Hakkai himself was wondering through the halls in search of Sakura, feeling rather relieved when he finally spotted the girl standing by the front doors. He seemed not to notice House at first, until the man called out the girls name. Giving him a curious look, he wondered if this man was one of the doctors or patients; it was hard to tell sometimes.

He reached the girl before he did, kneeling besides Sakura and giving her a gentle smile. "Sakura? I'm Hakkai" His voice was soft, tone soothing. He had two small towels in his hand, but didn't touch her just yet, not wanting to risk startling the girl and making things worse.

He'd cut his time short with Travis. Trucker wasn't going anywhere--he knew where to find him. Even if Harry had agreed to take his stead in looking over the girl...

...he just couldn't focus enough to take his mind off of her.

If she didn't want his help? Too damn bad. He'd look after her anyways. At least he could trust himself. Dammit, he hated worrying like this. It was stupid. Unneeded.

...Harry's fault, probably. His worry was contagious.

Torn plowed through the front doors a moment too late, split seconds short of arriving with Hakki and House, but not too late to beat the former to the prize.

The tall ex-officer wasn't familiar with Hakkai, and as such didn't know how to respond to him kneeling in front of Sakura like that. So, really, he only had the best intentions when he lumbered over to loom above the two of them, grounding out "Can I help you?" to the stranger.

Sakura jumped for the first time when a tall man with a frightening stick in his hand called her name. She didn't know him... a stranger... They were everywhere, and they would all hurt her, thats what strangers did, strangers hurt, always hurting, making everything bleed... Toya was right, he was always right, why did she ever doubt him, she didn't believe him and now she was bleeding ( ... )

Hakkai looked up at Torn, smile still in place even as he wondered how explain things to him. The man was very protective of Sakura, he could tell, so he figured he should give a satisfactory answer before the other decided he was a threat to the girl. "I offered to help Sakura, and she accepted. Please rest assured that I in no way intent to harm her" He watched as Sakura became rather frightened, a concerned look passing over his face. It was only natural for the girl to be scared, considering she seemed to have no memory of her surroundings or the people around here.

"Please don't be frightened, Sakura. You said you'd trust me, remember?"

There were so many things about this situation Torn did. Not. Like. Maybe too many to correctly list.

The problem was trust, and who he could give his to. He didn't know the man Sakura had apparently befriended in the midst of her little break down. And knowing her track record with friends in the hospital, especially when her sanity was waning, just saying he was going to help wasn't gonna earn him the gold star. Words don't earn trust. Actions do.

Speaking of actions, in came the second player, limping away on his cane. Her doctor, huh? That only made him one person...

After a quick muttering of "I can handle it," to Hakkai, he turned and placed himself effectively between Sakura and the bastard he'd had the misfortune of meeting on her journal.

"I don't think so," Torn replied. "If you're who I think you are, you'd do well to remember those promises of mine."

"I'll take care of her," Torn replied. "You step off."

He looked the doctor up and down, committing the bastard to memory so he could be sure to watch out for him later. It was then he noticed the needle. So, he was planning on doping her, and shoving her off to solitary. The last thing she needed right now was to be left somewhere to rot. Even he could see that.

Leave it to the doctor here to take the cold approach.

Shaken, but not entirely stirred yet, Sakura watched the conversation unfold before her. It was unnerving, watching people she didn't know (no, she was told she knew them, she just didn't remember) talk about her like they had been acquaintances, maybe even friends, for so long ( ... )

This didn't look good at all. And it could only get worse.

Before House could react past realizing someone had just lunged for him, Torn stepped in and grabbed both of their wrists.

A, "Calm down," was shot to the third wheel, Hakkai. Impulsive thing. He didn't like that about him, no matter what the intention was.

Then a turn to House. "Nice speech," he grounds, but means it. Under happier conditions, he might have liked the man's biting wit to an extent. But probably not.

"Now drop the needle before you hurt someone," he continued in an ordering tone. The hand around House's wrist tightened to iron. "I think you've forgotten that promise I made you, but that's alright. I'll be more than happy to remind you."

Now Sakura was even more frightened. What was scarier than an intimidating man with a stick? An intimidating man with a stick grabbing her, that's what.

At first she just froze, her body stiffening with the man's arm around her waist. She didn't know what to do. She was terrified, to say the least. If only her brother were here... Sakura knew Toya would rush in and save her like a knight on a white horse... only with less armor and horses. But the man with the stick would definitely have to let her go if Toya was here.

...And why couldn't she make him let go without her brother's help? She could do that, right? A sudden impulse (usually set off by that 'knight' she'd just been thinking about) ran through Sakura's body, starting at the back of her head and surging to her foot. A left-footed pink sneaker pounded with all its might onto the right foot of the stick-man. If that didn't at least phase him, nothing would.

Torn couldn't believe he'd let go. How weak had he gotten?! A hit with a stupid stick and he'd played into the stupid therapist's hands ( ... )
