He kissed her absently and slipped into her bathroom where he closed the door and ended up on the floor where the shakes took over

Eventually, Kait knocks on the door.

"Sam?"

"S.sorry."

He stands up and wobbles before managing to get to the door and opening it for her.

"I was just wondering how you were."

[makesthings]

"Tired, but I'll manage. Do know how to do that."

The shakes have gone down slightly but he's leaning against the wall.

"Mmhmm." She regards him for a long moment. "Do you want to talk?"

"I'll try, but I'm out of practice."

He's talked to people here but its been so long since he truly talked to any of his family.

"I can listen. And I can ask questions." She holds out her hand to him.

[makesthings]

"Questions might help."

It takes a moment to move off the wall and grab her hand and then hug her.

Kait hugs him tightly, standing up on her toes slightly. "C'mon, Sam," she says, softly, once she pulls away. "Couch?"

"Yes."

He keeps tight hold of her hand as he makes his way over to sit. Since he's still trembling, he does a small spell that warms the air just around them.

The shaking isn't something she's used to. Not outside the nightmares of her younger siblings.

"Talk to me," she says once they are sitting.

"I don't know what to do. Mogget's right. I'm scared of a book that I need to read and letting everyone down. It was stupid of me to think that the toys I make even come close to what I should do. I don't mind if you want to leave me alone. You probably should have after Mogget talked to you before."

The shaking is something he's almost become used to though normally he hides away where no one can find him though they rarely come looking.

Kait reaches up to run her fingers through his hair, and watches his face closely.

"Why?"

He doesn't want to meet her eyes since he feels worthless and looks close to what he was like when he had a nightmare,

"You shouldn't have to worry about what I need to do and clearly I should just go home and do whatever I'm supposed to. Though I'll probably ruin it which is why Mogget doesn't trust me."

She thinks about that, weighing up responses. But as she does so, her fingers don't stop stroking his hair.

"I'd worry if I was a friend, let alone...whatever we are. But it's a choice I've made. I shouldn't have to worry about a lot of things I do, but-" Kait shrugs. "This one is a choice."

The other issues she'll come back to in a moment - those are the ones she's more interested with, anyway.

Its strange to hear her say that, that's its a choice and hers and she's willing to do it for him,
