It'd been getting harder and harder to tell which one was a dream, and which was reality. Having these powers was tantamount, of course. But in the dreams where he's driving those helpless lambs up to New York, he doesn't have anything burning inside him. He only has the drive to reach salvation. It's much more quiet, even when he's yelling at Maya to keep driving.

He's remembering more and more of each switch. He can remember laying in that house in Canada, watching Smokey laugh and smile and play in her stupid way. He can remember Maya grinning like an idiot as he showed her that she can control her power, after all. He remembers breaking into Mohinder's apartment, burning up with Smokey in his arms. He remembers sliding the knife in Alejandro's chest, and the feeling of contentment that followed.

He can remember going to Suresh for the cure, holding Maya hostage, shooting her- he went there because he had no powers, and it was gnawing at him, pulling at and ripping up his insides. By the time he reached Suresh's apartment, he looked sickly and gray. But he still managed to get what he wanted. The cure. He was whole again.

He hadn't managed to get Claire's blood for himself with Smokey there, but that was okay, he already had his abilities back. He was just so hot inside. He was going to burn to death- luckily, he passed out first.

Which one is real? It started to mix together, visits to the Nexus and visits to New York. Once he got them all back, he found he had a little regeneration. He could heal his injuries, albeit a little slower than Claire. Now just where had THAT come from? He didn't really wonder about it, but he would use it. He felt sick again, though- like something inside him had died and a dark and horrible thing had decided to live there. He tried to ignore it.

He knew what he needed now. It was time to go after Claire again.

They had decided it- it was time to go after Claire again. This time would be the last. He would get her power, no matter what. And he would never have another virus again.

When he found the portal to the Nexus, he supposed he should've been surprised. When he found Smokey on the other side of it, wondering where he'd been, he just couldn't manage the shock. It all fit together. It all made too much sense. This is who he was now. This is what the Nexus has done to him.

It doesn't matter now, which one was a dream. He's got the same goal either way. With Smokey, it could be easier or harder- who knows? At least Claire won't be expecting it.
