Double Conundrum
Alright, another casting issue that I'm having. Okay, I know most people who do casting work out how the character will be and then pick actors that reflect that, but for me it's just far easier to do it the other way around. It's yet another one of the writing short-cuts that I use. So when I have issues with who I want to cast it sort of...stalls the writing process completely.
I won't go into as much detail with the plot as I did with the last post, mainly because I haven't got this story worked out as well as I did the other one.
Conundrum 1: So it's a simple matter of choosing which two actors would work for two different characters.
The first character is Rhys and the characters involved will be Carys, his sister and Morgan, whom he's paired with.
Carys will be Gemma Arterton:
And Morgan will be Amber Tamblyn:
The second character is Kieran, and the only character important to him is Reagan who will be Kristin Bell:
With those parameters set, the two I'm choosing between are Darren Criss:
and Ryan Reynolds:
Now, my first instinct is for Darren Criss as Rhys and Ryan Reynolds as Kieran...even though I had it switched in the first place...but...it's just not sitting completely right with me.
Now, my second conundrum is still with this same story and different characters.
The one that I'm debating is Lily and the only significant character to her is John whom she's paired with.
John will be Robert Downey Jr.:
And my picks for Lily are Bonnie Wright:
and Dakota Fanning:
The issue I'm having deciding which one stems from Lily's personality. Since her storyline was pretty much the concept that started the story, I have her worked out the most. She's a very sweet person, fits the Earth mother archetype to a T. I don't know...if I can reconcile that out with Dakota in my head. Bonnie on the other hand...is freakin' Ginny Weasley. And even though Ginny annoys the fuck out of me, I can see Bonnie pulling off the personality bit. On the other hand, another issue is that I can totally see Dakota pulling off a relationship with an older man...but not so much with Bonnie...
Let me explain: Yes, I know that both Bonnie Wright and Dakota Fanning are like 12, but it's a reincarnation story wherein one half of the couple was killed while the other wasn't. There will never be any action of any sort between them just massive amounts of angst until Lily is older. Now, in order to imagine the pairing, just imagine the two of them older or...RDJ younger...here:
Also, it is impossible to find a picture of him younger where he doesn't look like a total dork (case in point the pic of above--he's wearing fucking eye liner!!) or is in an orange jumpsuit. Also...he got sooooooooooooooooo much hotter with age...like...ridiculously so...Just like Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt and George Clooney...what the hell is up with that?
