Just got done with back-to-back physiology exams (unit 4 detailed exam, plus a comprehensive final). I think our instructor is as glad as anyone to be done with this 17-week stretch and to have a life again. It's rough teaching any class for the first time, and this one was a bear. But she was in a good enough mood to bring us sandwiches and snacks for a between-test break, and the exam was sprinkled with free points and silly jokes, which were great for breaking the tension:
What causes air to enter your lungs?
a. Partial pressure of carbon dioxide
b. Partial pressure of oxygen
c. Atmospheric pressure
d. Elves with fans stationed in your pharynx
I could tell you about glucose metabolism. Or the
renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and its extreeeeemely complicated regulation of blood pressure. Or the different forms of active and passive transport through the cell membrane. But I won't.
Now I have 24 hours to cram organic chem, with a break for Lodge tomorrow night. Esters and ethers, acetals and ketals, here I come.
