Previous Chapters =) Right now, this was the day that Brendon would finally leave and take the plane to Houston. The past two weeks flied by with plenty of laughter, it was still not long enough for the boys. Ryan drove to the airport and both of them had a small conversation but they were still feeling anxious and sympathetic. Ryan parked in a safe spot as he carried most of Brendon’s bags inside.
Ryan waited for Brendon until he went through bag check and both of them waited for their flight as they held hands for the last hour before they got separated.
“Flight 302 to Houston is now boarding,” spoke the loudspeaker loudly throughout the airport. Ryan looked down at the linked hands and frowned. He tried to hard to not let his tears flow, but it’s time to give up.
“Ryan. This is not goodbye. I promise you that I will come back before you know it.”
“I-I’ll miss y-you,” Ryan replied.
Soon enough, they said their last goodbyes as Brendon gathered his bags and stood. Ryan stood up with him and linked their lips together for a kiss that seemed like eternally. It was a dream that they felt from the beginning of their journey; slow, romantic and beautiful. They parted for air at the same exact time as they both took a step forward. Brendon wiped Ryan’s tears away lightly with his fingers then walked slowly away from his lover, breaking the sturdy link of their hands slowly. Ryan tried to follow Brendon but his feet stayed like lead blocks, just watching his dove fly. Brendon turned before he turned and mouthed an “I love you.”
Ryan’s tears got closer and closer down his cheeks as he blinked and replied an “I love you too” right back. Brendon nodded before he turned away and in that split second, he was gone. Ryan gasped for air as he cried harder and started to run away. Bumping into dozens of people, he made it to his car and drove to Sunset Lake as fast as he could.

When Ryan finally got home, he saw a letter on the kitchen. He picked it up and saw it was from Jon. He ripped it open and started to read.
Hi Ryan!
Let me just say that finally being home in Chicago has never felt so good! I miss everyone and I thought I would send a little something. I know that Brendon must be getting ready to leave for Houston very soon, but I think we all will be okay. I can’t wait for baseball season and go to a Cubs game with Ellie. If you’re wondering, she’s been doing pretty well. Her and I walk around sometimes late at night to show her more of the city while we still can with the weather. When you get a chance, I would love to hear from you buddy! Hopefully all four of us can talk on the phone when it’s at a good time. That would be really fun. I haven’t had 4-way conversations in a long time. But yeah, I gotta pass in some paper work so hopefully we can talk soon!
Jon :)
Ryan smiled slightly as he brought the letter into his room and changed into comfortable clothes. He left the letter on the desk then sat down on the floor looking all over his four walls, waiting for the phone to ring. He knew that he should have laid on his bed but he didn’t want to drift off just yet.
Around midnight, Ryan woke up to the loud ring of the phone that made him shake as he opened his eyes to hear the phone beep, sending Brendon’s voice to the answer machine.
“Uh, hi Ry, I’m in my dorm right now. I thought I would call-”
“Bren, I’m here. Sorry,” Ryan said into the phone exhaustingly. “Are you alright?”
“Yeah, of course I am. I had a long flight and it took me forever to organize my stuff but I’m fine.”
“I got worried.”
“I’m sorry. I promised myself that I would call you no matter how late it was and I kinda figured you would feel the same.”
“I do.”
“Okay then… I should go. It’s late and I’m falling asleep as we’re talking.”
“Go Bren. Sweet dreams. I’ll talk to you later.”
“Night Ry. Love you.”
“Love you too.”
Every night after that, Ryan and Brendon talked for about an hour until college started for Brendon while Ryan started about a week after him. Slowly, those phone calls happened once a week and lasted a half an hour if they were lucky. Thanksgiving was coming very fast for Ryan and as he was working on some homework, his cell phone chimed. Picking it up, he heard voices then silence.
“Hello?” Ryan asked through the mouthpiece.
“Yo Ry!” One word. Jon.
“Do you have a minute Ryan?” Spencer asked. Ryan smiled as he got up from his desk in his room as he made it downstairs in the kitchen to see Spencer’s ear connected to the cordless phone. Ryan nodded to him as he sat next to Spencer while all three of them began to chat when Ryan realized that Brendon wasn’t in the conversation at all.
“Where’s Brendon?” Ryan asked.
“He’s studying for an exam for tomorrow,” Jon said.
“Oh.”
“Jon! Sweetie, my baby Ryan. I was just listening to your voice that’s all. I miss you and I’m sorry that I haven’t called.”
“Brenny, don’t worry about it. I’m as busy as you are.”
“I got a job so most likely I will come back home for Christmas.”
“Where are you working? Hooters?” Jon said with a laugh.
“I’m going to make believe you never said that. But Jon, I work at a smoothie hut.”
“You can make me smoothies anytime you want,” Ryan said, getting in the middle of the conversation, “even in the winter.”
“Ryry, it’s always hot in Vegas silly. But anyway, how are you?”
“I’m Busy, but really good. How about you?”
“Same and I’m so happy to talk to you.” Ryan blushed as Brendon’s comment as Spencer saw this and grinned up at him. Feeling Spencer’s hand on his arm, Ryan closed his eyes and pictured Brendon beside him.
“It’s going to be a very Merry Christmas when you come home Bren,” Jon said with a smirk. Spencer and Ryan smiled as they heard the other two talk and joking around on the other line and Ryan heard Rachel walking into the room for a water bottle.
“Who are you both… Oh,” she said quietly with a big grin on her face. Rachel pecked a kiss on Spencer’s cheek, giggled and walked towards the living room.
“Anyway,” Ryan said as he saw what was happening with Spencer and Rachel, “I’m lonely without you guys.”
“Yeah, me too,” Jon and Brendon replied in unison.
“I think all of us should meet here at my house for Christmas.”
“I have vacation, well for the most part on the twenty-second, and Ellie has to figure out stuff for one of her classes but we’ll be home somewhere around there.”
“I get out earlier than you do,” Brendon sang into the phone.
“When?” Ryan questioned.
“You just have to find out sweetie.” The other three heard Ryan groan and Spencer wrapped his arm around his tiny torso.
Jon heard a big bang and sighed. “I gotta go. When I have a chance, I’ll call and tell you my plans for the holiday. Bye!” With that, Jon hung up slowly while Brendon looked through one of his textbooks for his pen and started to write Ryan a letter.
“Hello?” Spencer frowned when he heard silence and Ryan’s sniffles beside him.
“Bren?”
“What Ryan?”
“Please tell me when you’re coming home.”
Brendon heard fear in his lover’s voice and sighed slowly. “My boss is letting me have my vacation days early since I always work all of the time and if I’m lucky, I’ll be home before Jon and Ellie come.”
“O-okay.”
“Aww, please don’t cry. When I see you I know you’ll be so happy. It’ll be less than a month and I promise…I promise that everything will be alright. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
“Look for my letter in a few days and call me when you first get it. We’ll be together soon.”
“Okay. I know we will be.”
“I’m sorry, but if I don’t go right now, I’ll be really in trouble.”
“It’s alright. Good luck in class.”
“You too.” Ryan heard the low tone of Brendon’s voice as they hung up with Spencer following. Tearing up, Ryan cried in Spencer’s chest then felt the warmth from Rachel shortly after.
“It’s s-so h-hard.”
“We know, Ry. You’re strong for doing this,” Rachel said softly, as she rubbed Ryan’s back soothingly. He nodded, and slowly calmed down before he disappeared into his bedroom to study for his English exam for the next day.
A/N: Woahhh... Man, I am so so sorry that this is taking over a stupid year to finish this. I have serious monkey attacking the brain problems. But I have one more chapter to go so I'm kind of sad and somewhat more relieved that it's going to be over hopefully soon. Hope you all enjoy this and had a great weekend! =]
