I have one vein less in my body. It's the first invasive procedure I have been through which is disconnected with child-bearing.
They dissected half a meter of the perforating vein, and I don't run a risk of a clot shooting into my heart or brain anymore. The surgery took a couple of hours and I was fully aware of what was going on as they applied local anasthesia to the right lower limb only. The one less-than-pleasant sensation was the feeling of the doctor pulling the dissected vein out of my flesh which weirdly reminded me of Freddy Krueger. Regained sensory perseption brought a fair amount of pain and numbness easing off very slowly. The leg feels as if it is stuffed and can not be used to support the body. I collapsed a couple of times before got used to this condition. Right now I have a limp very similar to that of Dr. House :-). Hopefully it will improve till tomorrow's translation classes.
