I always seem to be sick, don't I? Today I've got a cold! Which, considering I work in a call center, and I have to blow my nose almost constantly and my throat is scratcy, is not a good thing. I just hope it passes quickly.
I came home a bit early, and I went to the drug store to get some kleenex, so I stopped by the Del Taco on the strip. Chicken soft tacos... yummmmmm. But, on the way there, some guy stopped me to tell me that he thought I was beautiful. Flattering, right? Except he also said that I was very sexy to him and that I looked great with "all that ass". Doesn't that imply that others won't find me sexy, just him, and that I have a big ass?!? I'm not sure if it was a complement or an insult *LOL* I don't want to have a big ass, even if some guys do find it sexy! Maybe I'll just blame it all on the jeans that I was wearing *LOL*
One thing today did make me feel better though, even with my cold. tangerine_haze commented on my LJ about "To Dance With the Devil", one of my fics on AFF. I was always especially proud of that one for some reason, so the fact that I get comments on it still, when it was posted back in November of '07, makes me feel really good. I haven't been writing much lately, but when I get messages like hers (?) it really inspires me to get my ass in gear and get something new written. If you're reading this tangerine_haze, and to every one who's commented on my fics, THANKS!
And, lastly, before the cold pills take control and (hopefully) make me pass out, here's my July reccommended reading list that I forgot to post earlier...
"Border Princes" by Dan Abnett - this is the second of the "Torchwood" books. Just like the first (and the next) I'd already heard the abridged audio book. Let me just say that the audio didn't do this one justice. There was a character introduced in this book that I honestly didn't give a damn about when I heard the audio, but durring the book I really grew to like him, and I was actually cared about how he ended up on the book. I guess that there's just more time to flesh things out in paper that you can't do when you're trying to keep to a time limit. This is my favorite of the "Torchwood" books so far, and TW fans should give it a read.
"Vampire Transgression" by Michael Schiefelbein - I already did a big review for this a few entries back on LJ, so I don't have much left to say. I loved the first two books because they were something a little different, but the thrid book just kind of fell short for me. Not to say that it was bad, just that it wasn't good enough. It's a decent read for fans of vampire books with lots of guy on guy action, but I'd say that it's best to stick to the first two books of the series, and only read this one if you want to find out what happens next to our favorite roman soldier turned vampire fiend.
