Well, I said I was going to get a Part Deux in, and I’m determined to do it! After a day or so, I began to remember things I had forgotten to put in the original journal, so here goes! It took literally DAYS to recover from the high of the weekend. So this may STILL be a little jumbled. I’m including some timelines from Twitter that spiced up the weekend!
Word to all you Chicago and Miami TVD Hot Topic Tour attendees--I forgot something. By now you know you have to join Hop Topic +1, buy a Season 2 Cast Tour t-shirt, and you get a wristband (which you MUST have on or you won’t get into the signing) guaranteeing you will get an autograph. The fine print says 1 wristband per person, 1 autograph per wristband. Don’t get excited! It means one autograph from each actor present (in other words, TWO) per wristband. Before you get all scheming, don’t try to put your wristband on real loose in hopes that, after you get YOUR autograph, you can slip the wristband off and give it to somebody else. OH CONTRAIRE! They are gonna cut the wristband off as you enter Hot Topic and take it from you. This is another place Madminx and I were GOLDEN--they didn’t cut off our wristbands for some reason--I think we may be the only 2 peeps that were in the Top Ten that got to keep ours. Who knows why?! But we got to keep ours as souvenirs!
Back at the Madness That Was Last Weekend:
Anybody that follows Ian Somerhalder on Twitter knows he likes to pump the excitement before an event--he gets on Twitter and drives people insane! On the night before the signing, he sent out:
“Wrapped! Off to Dallas tomorrow morning! See you in the morning Texas! Wish I could pop over to Austin for some music tomorrow night…”
[There was a 3-day marathon music festival going on in Austin that weekend--would THAT have caused some drama if he’d been able to just “pop over”!]
A local entertainment periodical, The Dallas Observer was on hand to cover the Hot Topic TVD Tour, along with their photographer, Danny Fulgencio. When Madminx and I were standing in the Top Ten line up against the wall, Danny came up to me and asked if he could take a picture of my Season 2 Cast Tour T-shirt--like I was gonna say no! I thought he wanted MY picture, but he came in to about 2 feet with a honkin big lens and took a closeup of just the logo--The Girls were popular that day! When The Observer posted the pics online (I tweeted them the night they went up), that pic was, to my disappointment, not there. I would have known it was me, because of the gold belly chain and I wear a barbell necklace. I’ve written to the Editor of The Observer to try to get in touch with Danny--we’ll see what happens! Danny was EVERYWHERE that day, we kept passing each other, he‘s even in a lot of people‘s pics--so if I get to talk to him he may just remember me and hopefully hasn’t deleted the pic from his shots!
While the Top Ten was standing in line waiting to go in (with our Frisco PD bodyguards--ha!), my cell phone goes off--Ian’s tweeting again--
“In Texas with @candiceaccola going to stonebriar center in Frisco Tx. They say everything is bigger in Texas- is our fan base bigger???”
And then, apparently after they got to Stonebriar Centre but before they got into Hot Topic (where Ian started waving out the front window to peeps in the line):
“Boo! #TVDTour”
What a tease!
Anybody that follows TVD has seen or heard Ian comment during interviews about crowds of “screaming 13-year-olds” at these kind of events! When the Top Ten were waiting to go in, I turned around and said to everybody, “You know what? There’s not one of us in this group close to 13 and under!” We all thought that was pretty funny! I’d say from looking at the entire crowd of fans that were at The Event, it ranged from teens to seniors! I kept jokin I was covering the event for AARP! And I had to laugh, because right after Ian and Candice had “left the building”, Ian sent out this tweet that said:
“Thank you Dallas! The amount of smiles and estrogen was intoxicating…”
About Madminx’ scrapbook--the folks at The CW were kind enough to DM @tvdfansonline AND Madminx to let her know that the scrapbook was, indeed, put into Candice’s hands. We got triple confirmation! I’m hopin Candice or someone in promotions sends Madminx a note, e-mail, or tweet acknowledging all Madminx and Candice’s fans hard work in putting it together. We’ll see!
My tweet line from after the autograph signing is totes insane: Here’s a sample:
“omg-he is sooooo hot! i survived eye contact & a wink--and he likes where the faces end up on my shirt!”
“wow-u guys r already posting our stuff! #tvdtour”
“we're in the mosh pit 4 the q&a w/Madminx! wish u were here! #tvdtour”
“my smart phone has a dumb operator-i have 2 get 2 a wifi l8r for pics #tvdtour”
“okay so i didn't squeeze the woobie but i was able 2 talk! omg i have so much 2 say! #tvdtour” (Friends of The Salvatore Boarding House will get this!)
“sounds under radio just threw us free cdz from their new album!”
“sounds under radio on stage-q&a next! #tvdtour”
“found my truck-will post when i get hm. Madminx has sum awsm pics-mine suck! #tvdtour”
“Contrary to reports, I AM still alive! Just got home--tryin to figure out how to get all my pix on line! #TVDTour”
Shortly after the autograph signing, (post almost CPR!) Madminx and I were coming down the escalator to the Mosh Pit, when a same sex couple (guys) approached us and asked what was going on. Well, we explained it was an autograph signing and Q&A session for the TV show The Vampire Diaries. One of the guys asked me if one of the peeps on my shirt was there--of course, by that time I had no qualms about pointing out Ian on my chest! The guy said, “Is he hot?” I put my hand on his arm and replied, “Oh, honey, you have NO idea. You could fry an egg on his abs!” It was hilarious!
From lugging my purse around all day with the usual wallet, keys, cell phone, etc. plus netbook, wireless mouse, camera, extra batteries, and the book I had wanted to get Ian to sign, I didn’t realize until I got ready to go to work the following Monday that I had a HUGE bruise on my left shoulder where the strap of my bag had been! It was a pain that made me laugh--till Wednesday!
I was so excited and out of control about the whole thing, I realized after I had posted my original journal entry that I was hungry (like 10 pm on Sunday night). Then it hit me that I hadn’t eaten since lunch on Friday! I actually lost 4 pounds last weekend! It’s The Vampire Diaries Diet!
After I had posted my live journal entry, Ian was on Twitter AGAIN!
“Lights out- good night Texas, back to ATL early in morning, no Deep ellum partying for me tonight…”
[Deep Ellum is one of the local club scenes in Dallas that’s famous for late night music and partying--and apparently they spent the night in Dallas and flew back the next morning!]
Speaking of tweets--I got some really funny ones back after posting my original journal.
Tweet from a TVD Friend: Yeah! It is long, but I'm def gonna read it! Already skimmed through it, "Are you shittin' me?" lol
Me back to TVD Friend: Oh, it gets worse! Do not grab your own "girls" in the presence of...
Tweet back from TVD Friend: Oh no....you didn't!! lol Can NOT wait to read that! hahaha
Me back to TVD Friend: Oh, yes, I did--it was HIS fault!
New TVD Friend: I read that part about the "girls". haha, at least you didn't faint and he still wanted to shake your hand!
Me back to New TVD Friend: I'm glad someone's enjoyin it--OMG U made me laugh again! I hadn't thought about it that way!
New TVD Friend back to me: Of course you shook Candice's hand first so Ian got some sloppy seconds. ;)
Me back to New TVD Friend: I may hafta put up a Part Deux just for the comments I get back!
New Tweeter: Read your article, got quite a few good chuckles out of it :) Sounds like you had a blast. And, of course, that Ian knows how to turn on the charm. *sigh* Envy coming your way~~~~~~
The comments I have received back from my original journal post have been great, funny, supportive, and appreciated. Speaking of envy--I have read several other people’s accounts of their experiences that day. They range from hilariously funny to totes memorable! Wish I hadn’t spazzed out so bad! I’m printing all of the things I find out to include in a scrapbook--everybody’s online experiences and the pics they are willing to share. We all had different experiences, but they were all fabulous! I know the TVD Family in the Chicago and Miami areas will be just as jazzed about meeting the cast of The Vampire Diaries.
Still waiting for the local CW station (CW33 in Dallas) to air the interview with Candice and Ian--I’ve been bugging the reporter every other day! It was supposed to air by last night (Thursday following event), but not yet! The reporter tells me it will air by next Wednesday, and they‘ll put it on their website after it airs--I’ll tweet it when it does!
I may put up one more post on the subject (aren’t you glad there’s only one more!). I think I’ll put the Q&A session down on paper, the YouTube video is great, but you still have to listen over all us screaming fans! Till then,
Namaste
