7 years since I stopped speaking with my father's mother. Time flies.
My Christmas has been non-traditional this year. For one, "vacation" actually means vacation at my current place of employment. That means no phone calls, no emails, no NOTHING. Very unusual!
Also, my parents moved out of the house I grew up in (for 13 or so years) this past August, so I'm sitting in their new house, completely lost in the town next to the one I grew up with. It doesn't help that I've only left the house in darkness so far.
My sister worked today and will work tomorrow and the day after, so tomorrow's schedule is a bit more screwy than usual.
We went to mass (typical) and did the "everyone open one gift" (typical) thing tonight, but that's where typical ends.
Tomorrow we'll go to my sister's work (cancer unit at Duke) in time for gift exchanges (11am), then come home to stuff our faces (me, Mom and Dad), then I'll haul them to a movie, and THEN when my sister gets out of work we'll open gifts.
After that, it's just hanging out with friends, watching more movies, stuffing my face with leftovers, and generally being a lump on a log until I leave. Hoo-rah!
Merry Christmas, everyone!
